Sorry to see what you're going through, tms. This is not a result of legal immigration, but a result of the open borders. That's the hard part to swallow.

I went to a job interview about 3 and a half years ago and that was after spending 15 minutes on the phone with the new employer. After driving for an hour, and then waiting for 30 minutes to be seen, I met the woman who would interview me. We talked about another 30 minutes and then she decided to hire me. The job was for a constructinon recruiter recruiting for a staffing agency. So I went down the hall to fill out my paperwork and she comes flying in and asks me "Oh by the way, sir, how is your spanish?" I told her I didn't speak spanish. "Oh well then, we can't use you" was her reply.

This happened in Miami, FLA the place where I was born and raised and was living there for 40 years. Imagine that--being told you don't qualify for a job like that because you don't speak a foreign language. The woman herself was English. An American backstabbing an American. The only reason why I would need to speak spanish is so that I could effectively recruit foreigners who don't speak English. Shouldn't all of this be flip-flopped? Since then, I got out of construction--and out of Miami.

Like I have posted before, we're not the racists, the spanish are for simply not learning English (some have), and for only voting for a hispanic come election time. Our government does nothing to help them assimilate into this country.

In past migrations, immigrants held the spirit of America, by assimilating and puttting America first over any cultural ties that they might have had. Today, these people coming in take the attitude 'to hell with the American culture. I'll speak my own language'. They get away with it and our government lets them.

TMS--you're going through a rough time. Believe me, I have seen the worst--having to suffer things like what I described above, living on welfare with 3 kids and a wife, It was really tough. But by the grace of god, I landed an outrageous job that pays well and I absolutely love. Keep your chin up and good things will come to you when your time has come. I can tell you that in one form or another--it will come. Good luck to you.

THEY REFUSE TO ASSIMILATE, get it right! The government provides free/cheap english classes to those interested.

As I said THEY REFUSE TO ASSIMILATE! The "melting pot" is now a "stew."

Not so upset now about the situation. Something will come around. But I am mad at my ex-employer who subcontracted with a jantorial company. They do employ illegals and belong to the SIEU. I was about to do an undercover expose on this and get them in trouble. Then they fired me.

Quite often the social services job postings for Wake County, North Carolina, flatly say that only people who are bi-lingual may apply. No others will be considered.

OK, Soulman, got it! At least those who are intrested can learn English. Great! Only one problem, like I said, they don't give a hoot about really becoming an American. They are here to take from the system any way they can.

TMS, I am quite sure that the Hispanic Union leaders of the SEIU union is why the AFL-CIO did a flip flop on amnesty and now support the idea. However, the AFL-CIO has fallen apart.

Here in DENVER I have read about a "Lisa Duran" who receives a paycheck from some union but she is also one of these self appointed activists you will read about. The SEIU has been invaded by Mexican seperatists! It is a little click here in Denver and I think the INS even has them as employees? All DEMOCRATS! Yes, we all know they employ illegals and as long as Washington refuses to enforce the law.....they will continue to come by the millions...but if you own 10 McDonald's ranchises you don't care right? You hire that cheap labor and enjoy those 3 houses you own and that cruise you take every year for a month!

    I agree.

yeah I have been to one of the SEIU offices, kinda noticed that. This union couldn't help me keep my job and even told me lies and stuff that wasn't true. Where am I at now the unemployment line after paying almost 30.00 every two weeks for union dues for over 6 years. Do the math, that's just one employee. Money makers that's it supporting illegal workers.
