Officials: NM teen gunman kills 5 inside home

    Updated 9:42 am, Sunday, January 20, 2013

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities in New Mexico say a teenage boy has fatally shot two adults and three children inside an Albuquerque home.

The boy has been booked on murder and other charges.

Bernalillo County sheriff's spokesman Aaron Williamson says the boy's motive and connection to the five victims aren't immediately unknown.

Williamson says investigators who received a report of the shooting Saturday night are trying to determine whether the victims were related.

The victims' identities haven't been released.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A 15-year-old boy fatally shot two adults and three children at a home near Albuquerque, authorities said Sunday.

The teenager was arrested on murder and other charges in connection with the shootings Saturday night at the home in a rural area 10 miles southwest of downtown Albuquerque, Bernalillo County sheriff's spokesman Aaron Williamson said.

The victims' identities haven't been released, and the boy's motive and connection to the five victims weren't immediately known. Williamson said investigators were trying to determine if the victims were related.

"We are trying to identify the victims," Williamson said.

Each victim suffered more than one gunshot wound, he said.

Investigators also were trying to determine who owned several guns that were found at the home, one of which was a semi-automatic military-style rifle.

Authorities declined to release details of any conversation that the 15-year-old had with investigators.

The teenager was booked on two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.

On Sunday, a police roadblock cut off public access to the narrow dirt road that leads to the home.

Detectives were still processing the crime scene Sunday afternoon.

Peter Gomez, a 54-year-old carpenter who lives about 200 yards from the home, said he saw police vehicles and ambulances arrive Saturday night.

Gomez said he doesn't know the family that lives at the house, but he has seen a married couple and their two boys and two girls from time to time.

"It's a horrible thing," Gomez said. "You see all this stuff that happens all over the country, the shootings in the schools and theaters, and then it happens right here. It's sad."

Here we go again. The gun grabbers are going to do their best to tie this horrible tragedy in with an attempt to ban guns with the media helping already. No matter what the crime is, even before any facts at all are known they apply it to their propaganda pattern.

It sounds like another nut job kid that killed his own family. All of this publicity and "news" coverage seems to be inciting a crime wave. JMO

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of two adults and three children, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Last night, police found five people dead at a South Valley home in the 2800 block of Long Lane SW.

A man, a woman, two girls and a boy were found in the home with several gunshot wounds.

Friends identified the man as Greg Griego, a pastor at Calvary Church in Albuquerque.

Shortly after 1 p.m. police identified the 15-year-old as Nehemiah Griego.

Police believe the teenager used an AR-15 semi automatic rifle in the shooting. Multiple weapons were retrieved from the house.

KOB 4 is told that Nehemiah Griego called someone after the incident, and that person called 911.

KOB 4 is also told Greg Griego served as a spiritual counselor to the Albuquerque Fire Department.

Albuquerque Fire Chief James Breen said the Albuquerque Fire Department is mourning the senseless loss of one of our spiritual counselors, Greg Griego.

He said Griego was a dedicated professional that passionately served his fellow man and the firefighters of this community.
Breen said Griego's calming spirit and gentle nature will be missed.

Griego also volunteered at the Bernalillo County jail for 13 years, offering spiritual comfort and guidance to the incarcerated, according to Metropolitan Detention Center Chief Ramon Rustin.

    The investigation is ongoing.

On the surface, it appears that this (Pastor) was well armed, as are tens of thousands of other Pastors ..

It appears Nehemiah was either a son or close relative.

    How utterly tragic.

Praying for this family. God help us.
