National Guard Will Miss Border Deadline


The Bush administration has been unable to muster even half of the 2,500 National Guardsmen it planned to have on the Mexican border by the end of June.


As of Thursday, the next-to-last day of the month, fewer than 1,000 troops were in place, according to military officials in the four border states of Texas, California, New Mexico and Arizona.

“We now anticipate major waves in our deployment. There won’t always be 6,000. That will be the maximum,” Munn said.

There has been a lot of polling on sending “6,000 National Guard Troops” to the border. I wonder how the polling would fair if you substitute “6,000″ with “there won’t always be 6,000, that will be the maximum?”

If there will not “always be 6,000″ and that is “a maximum,” will there ever be 6,000?

Unless something changes fast, there is very little interest amongst the Governors and State Adjutant Generals to participate in this scheme. Yes, it is being referred to as “the scheme” among those in the planning community. Well, there are some other phrases but ……
I wonder if Congressional Republicans are paying attention? If not, they do so at their own peril. The democrat attack ads will be blistering.

Scheme? Scheme? I call it a scam!!!!

I don't know what's going on...my husband was activated yesterday.
His Ky. group is going down next month..we are not sure for how long. First he said 4 wks. then 3 wks.....it is supposed to replace their 2 week summer camp.
