My email from Congressman John Sullivan,

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts regarding illegal
immigration. I
appreciate hearing from you on this important issue and welcome the
opportunity to
respond.

As your Representative, I am working hard to bring positive reform to
our illegal
immigration system and develop responsible immigration policy that
stops illegal
immigration. Illegal immigration presents a threat to the security of
our borders and
the rule of law in our nation. Simply put, border security is national
security.

I understand that illegal immigration is a serious concern for many
Oklahomans. I do
not believe that people who entered our country illegally should
receive the status of
American citizens or legal immigrants. In Congress, I have supported
efforts to
combat illegal immigration and increase our border security and
interior enforcement
measures. On several occasions in the First District, illegal
immigrants were
apprehended by police and set free by federal authorities. In
response, I worked with
local and federal officials to secure new U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement
agents to combat illegal immigration in Tulsa. In addition, I am
working diligently
with the Department of Homeland Security to establish an immigration
interior
enforcement office in Tulsa. I have also taken a stand against any form
of amnesty
for illegal aliens because it would reward two groups of law-breakers -
those who
came to this country illegally, and employers who hire illegal workers.
We must
ensure that available jobs are reserved for American workers first.

Our federal immigration laws are in place for the safety of our
citizens, protection of
our borders, and for reasonable levels of immigration. Our immigration
policies are
not simply guidelines that can be haphazardly ignored. Illegal
immigration affects
everyone. As your Representative and a member of the House Immigration
Reform
Caucus, please know that I will continue to support immigration policy
that is fair,
responsible, and that is respectful of our current immigration law and
will work
against any proposal that would threaten the national and economic
security of our
nation.

Again, thank you for contacting me. It is an honor to serve you in
Washington. If you
