    OR's Sen. Smith oppose amnesty bill!!!

    OFIR members and supporters:

    On today’s Lars Larsen show Senator Gordon Smith said that he opposes the Senate Amnesty bill and would not vote for it. This is the first time that he has called it an "amnesty bill." He also said that he doubts that President Bush moved many Republican Senators to his side. The Senator also acknowledged that he has heard loud and clear from his constituents that they are opposed to the amnesty bill.

    We urge everyone to call Senator Smith’s offices and thank him. (202) 224-3753 in Washington DC and (503) 326-3386 in Portland.

    In addition please consider calling the office of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and ask him to stop the passage of the amnesty bill. (202) 224-2541.

    Unfortunately Senator Ron Wyden continues to support the passage of the amnesty bill. We urge you to call his office and ask him join with Senator Smith in opposing the it.

    AMERICANS SAY NO AMNESTY call.

    As for Mitch McConnell, I have called his office 5 days a week for the last two weeks. HE BETTER BE THE THE MINORITY LEADER HE WAS ELECTED TO BE. NOT ANOTHER SELL-OUT SENATOR!

    All of us who are Oregonians, this really surprises us as Smith has been a long time Rino and fence rider.

    I am glad to see that he has seen through this bill and become wiser about his choices in voting, however, he IS up for re-election, so this just might be an election year thing to do.....?
