    The Anti-Immigration-Isolationism Connection

From the "Contentions" blog of Commentary Magazine:

    [quote]John Podhoretz - 11.21.2007 - 15:14

Mark Krikorian, the leading theorist of immigration restriction in America, offers a surprising, but honest, implicit ackowledgement of how much his own vision of a walled-off America primarily under threat from border-crossing immigrants comports with the isolationist foreign policy of George McGovern in the headline of this item attacking our own Max Boot on National Review’s The Corner.

It is hard to see why it is good either for Europeans or Americans to have more troops consolidated on giant, dusty bases in the middle of Texas or other uncongenial spots back home.

How's that for a really nasty, elitist remark.

I didn't know the military was for cultural enhancement of the military families - silly me.

    The argument is ridiculous.

We actually have a much more compelling interest in placing troops in dusty parts of So. Texas-where drugs, terrorists and criminal syndicates are smuggling who knows what into this country-than we do in keeping them in Bosnia or Kosovo, where all they're doing is allowing Muslim jihadis and mafioso to conduct their trade with impunity.
