Palin Wants Rubio and Ayotte Primaried

Palin Wants Rubio and Ayotte Primaried

    Katie Pavlich | Jun 26, 2013

The Gang of Eight's so-called "immigration overhaul" is pretty much dead on arrival in the House, but that isn't stopping Senators Marco Rubio and Kelly Ayotte from voting for it. But apparently, the House not taking up the bill isn't all these two, and maybe other Republicans, have to worry about. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is calling for both to be primaried.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who has the most influence among conservative voters in Republican primaries, told Breitbart News on Tuesday that Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) should be primaried for their support of the Senate's immigration bill.

“Conservatives are getting ready for the 2014 and 2016 primaries. We have long memories, and there will be consequences for those who break campaign promises and vote for this amnesty bill," Palin told Breitbart News. "Competition makes everyone work harder, be better, and be held accountable. This applies to politics, too. No one is ‘entitled’ to anything."

She continued, "Rigorous debate in competitive primaries allows candidates the opportunity to explain their flip-flops. So think of contested primaries as a win-win for politicians and their voters."

Palin responded to Breitbart News's request for comment about an interview she did earlier on Tuesday with John Gibson on Fox News radio in which she said Rubio and Ayotte "turned their back" on voters and should be primaried to be held accountable. Rubio and Ayotte will be up for reelection in 2016.

"Every politician should be held accountable for breaking their campaign promises," Palin said during an interview on the "John Gibson Radio Show" on Fox News radio. "They turned their back on the American public, so why should they not be held accountable?"

So, who will step up to the challenge? In Florida, former Congressman Allen West hasn't exactly ruled it out.

With Palin now confirming shes after Rubio & Ayotte, they have a serious problem. This should also serve as a warning to those Republican Congressmen entertaining even the slightest thought of passing any form of Amnesty for Illegal Aliens. That goes especially for you Paul Ryan.

Oh My. Sarah Palin Warns Marco Rubio – COMING FOR YOU

by Ulsterman on June 26, 2013 with 14 Comments in News

Clearly unhappy with GOP Senator Marco Rubio’s willingness to participate in a Democratic Party dominated push for immigration reform that would allow millions of illegal aliens legal status to remain within the United States, Sarah Palin is calling for conservatives in Florida to rise up and seek a primary challenger to Senator Rubio. Given Palin’s strong track record of success in supporting Republican candidates, her words have to be striking a fair amount of fear inside the Rubio camp.

    (Coming for you Marco…)

PALIN THROWS DOWN GAUNTLET ON PRIMARY CHALLENGES TO RUBIO, AYOTTE

“Conservatives are getting ready for the 2014 and 2016 primaries. …”Marco Rubio has blatantly flip-flopped on his position on immigration, on amnesty, and border security,” Palin said to Gibson, before noting the Senate’s Gang of Eight bill he orchestrated would reward law breakers and give President Barack Obama “a victory in his mission to fundamentally transform America economically.”

…Palin, to Gibson, said Ayotte’s and Rubio’s failure to live up to their campaign promises “gives us more reasons not to trust politicians, not to trust our government, unfortunately.”

“This is a scary place for our republic to be,” she said. LINK

In the past, Sarah Palin’s influence on conservative voters was undeniable. Her support could help a candidate to win an election, and logic would then dictate, her opposition could then help to defeat a politician as well. She has been relatively out of the spotlight for the last year or so though, so it will be interesting to see if she still maintains that same degree of influence.

The fact remains though that Marco Rubio has taken a significant political risk in attempting to remove the immigration issue off of the political table prior to the 2016 Election. While it may not prove enough to defeat him in a bid to win re-election as Florida Senator, it would certainly endanger his chances of obtaining the presidential nomination of the Republican Party in 2016.

Perhaps though, Rubio is not actually looking to run for president? Could he already be deferring to former Florida governor Jeb Bush, who is right now, according to party sources, setting up a financial platform upon which to run himself? That may explain Rubio’s willingness to so openly participate with Democrats in such a volatile and divisive piece of legislation as is the immigration reform bill.

It is nice to hear from Sarah Palin again, and the Republican Machine would do well to give her the respect and consideration her still popular and likely influential brand of outspoken conservatism, deserves. -UM
