- I have been very disappointed with our local PBS recently. they usually seem to offer unbiased views on issues; Except for this one.
Several complaints about false information have not been responded to, etc.

On KQED today they were claiming that Americans are responsible for:

1) 60% - 70% of Mexican females who cross the border are sexually abused (not by Americans or even in America)

2) Our border patrol often returns illegal aliens to border towns in Mexico where they are sometimes beaten or physically abused. (by Mexican authorities)

True something should be done about this; the Mexican government should warn its people of these dangers instead of encouraging them to take risks.

And how is this our problem? They need to take action in their own country to make conditions better there. Instead they are lazy and are looking for a free ride here and leave the rest of their family there to live in a toilet. Great family unity there eh?

KQED (see above) is a strong supporter of "immigration reform", they feel the solution is to "reform" immigration policy to allow instant legal status and documentation to anyone crossing the border.
They also feel that we have a responsibility to assist these people by "matching" them to American employers seeking help.

I plugged "Nativo Lopez" into Google (those cute little quotation marks included to reduce the number of hits and here are snippets of the results:

According to IRS tax documents, HML took in over one million dollars in gross receipts in 2004. HML also appears to have failed to register with the California Attorney General's office within six months of collecting assets, violating California Government Code Section 12585. We strongly urge the Attorney General to act now before history repeats itself.

Mr. Lopez is no stranger to controversy. In 1996, City News Service reported that HMN, under the direction of Lopez, was the focus of a lengthy investigation for improper voter registration activities. That same year, the INS terminated a contract for citizenship services with the HMN-affiliate, Naturalization Assistance Service, because of problems at its testing centers in Texas and Florida. According to news accounts, Mr. Lopez was ousted from a Santa Ana, CA School Board in a financial scandal involving HMN.
