Philadellphia Worker Found With Throat Slashed

Tragedy - with the sanctuary city status here for years, we have a large amount of illegals, many work BOH in restaurants. "Noelle's" details or he have not surfaced but....... also if he is caught the city is adamant @ sanctuary city policies; a reason for them found everywhere in this city and we shall see how this plays out..........If he is an illegal, will they release him on bail? They do not hold for ICE as the mayor says "infringes on their rights". This could be another example of a life lost because of sanctuary city policies that disregard our immigration laws. Posting as a case to follow up. The woman was 54 years old.
The restaurant owner should have papers of an employee and his full name but that has not been revealed.

Police are currently investigating the murder of a South Philadelphia restaurant worker who was found with her throat slashed on Thursday, ABC Philly reported.

The incident reportedly happened around 9 p.m. Thursday at Lee's Cafe and Bistro located on the 500 block of Washington Avenue. Investigators said her body was found in the basement of the restaurant.

NBC Philly reported that her body was bludgeoned and bloody.

"She had a deep cut to her neck, and she was pronounced dead," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small explained.

“There is a lot of blood next to her body, there is some overturned kitchen equipment – a piece of kitchen equipment is actually laying on her body," Small added. "In addition to her throat being slashed, she also has some facial injuries."

At the time the body was found, the restaurant was reportedly still serving customers.

(ABC News states a neighbor "Nha Nguyen is of no relation to the victim, but knew her. He tells us, "I spoke with her a couple times when I'm in here buying food and she's a great person. I wouldn't imagine anything like this happening to her."

Police have not released any details about a possible motive.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of "Noelle" is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334, or dial 911.

Woman found dead with throat slashed in South Philly restaurant

    Updated: March 4, 2016 — 12:46 PM Tom Kelly IV/For the Inquirer
A woman was found with her throat slashed late Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Lee's Cafe and Bistro in the 500 block of Washington Avenue in the South Philadelphia.

    by Julie Shaw, Staff Writer.

Homicide detectives on Friday continued investigating the slaying of a 54-year-old woman who was found with her throat slashed Thursday night in the basement kitchen of a Vietnamese restaurant in South Philadelphia.

Police said the victim, Thoung Nguyen, of South Philadelphia, was a cook at Lee’s Cafe & Bistro, 522 Washington Ave.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters “there were about four employees and about five customers inside” the restaurant when the killing occurred in the basement kitchen.

Police found the woman’s body in the kitchen shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday. Small said there appeared to have been a violent struggle, and that kitchen equipment had been knocked over and fell on the victim’s body.

The sit-down part of the restaurant is on the second floor of the corner eatery. A takeout business and bakery are on the first floor.

According to police, the restaurant’s owner flagged down 3rd District officers and directed them to the basement kitchen Thursday night.

The owner told police the victim and another employee were working in the kitchen and that he went to investigate when an order did not arrive within 10 minutes.

He found Nguyen on the floor with her throat slashed. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:15 p.m.

Police did not disclose if they had any possible suspects.
On Friday morning, the restaurant was closed.

A man who lives next door, Hung Le, 66, who is originally from Vietnam, said he was home when the stabbing happened. He said he didn’t hear anything, and that police came and asked him if he had a security camera outside. He said he didn’t.

Le said he didn’t know any of the workers in the restaurant and that he didn’t go there to eat because he cooks at home.

This block of Washington Avenue houses other small businesses catering to the city’s Vietnamese, Chinese and other Asian communities, including a hair salon, day care, acupuncturist and another Asian eatery. Behind Lee’s Cafe is the 1st Oriental Supermarket, one of the city’s large Asian food supermarkets.

Police said Nguyen lived on the 2000 block of Emily Street, a small residential street of two-story rowhouses.

Neighbors on that block expressed shock and sadness to hear about Nguyen’s death. They said they didn’t know the victim well, but would greet her when they saw her. They said she lived with an adult son. Some neighbors also thought a husband or a second son lived in the home, too.

On Friday morning, no one answered the door to Nguyen’s two-story brick home. The blinds were drawn on the first and second floors.

“She was quiet, she stayed to herself,” said Eartha Ervin, 46, who has lived on the block for about three years. “She spoke when she saw you.”

Ervin, like other neighbors, didn’t know Nguyen’s name and didn’t know where she worked.

“She’s quiet,” said Leon Bird, 79, who moved in next door to Nguyen about a year and a half ago. “She says hello and goodbye.”

Disclosed that he is an illegal honduran, last known address is in the area. He has a vehicle so must have a drivers license. Most illegals here do - so Pennsylvania issues licenses to illegals probably thru loose practices. Have read that it is very easy to do online.

ALL the young hispanics in this area are illegals. How it is handled in the media & the courts - if they catch him ! - remains to be seen.

In observing these young illegals, I can tell you many have no respect for women nor anyone's life, have hothead temperaments & are sneaky. It is unnerving to say the least to be surrounded by such explosive, undocumented, untraceable persons.

This area 10 blocks south of the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall & 3 blocks from the 19th century Italian Market where 2 blocks were boarded up for to 2 yrs, Then BOOM, all mexican stores on 2 of the many market blocks. Sanctuary cities promote activity negligible to the safety of
Philadelphia residents & American citizens .

Noel Ortea Lemus Del Cid is being sought in the slaying of Thoung Nguyen at a Vietnamese restaurant in South Philadelphia.

    by Emily Babay, STAFF WRITER.

Authorities are asking for help finding the man suspected of killing a coworker last week at a Vietnamese restaurant in South Philadelphia.

Philadelphia police said Monday that 27-year-old Noel Ortea Lemus Del Cid is a person of interest in the slaying of Thoung Nguyen.

Nguyen, 54, was found in the basement of Lee's Cafe & Bistro, located at 522 Washington Ave., shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday with her throat slashed.

She had been preparing food with the suspect at the time of her death, police said. Her body was found when the restaurant's owner went to the basement after he sent an order to the kitchen, but the food didn't arrive within 10 minutes.

Officials had previously identified a male coworker named "Noelle" as a person of interest in the killing. On Monday they clarified the man's full name and described him as a Honduran national whose last known address was on the 1300 block of South 9th Street. He drives a white SUV, has a thin or medium build and may have a cut on one of his hands, police said.

About four employees and five customers were at the restaurant when the killing occurred, and there were signs of a violent struggle in the basement, officials said last week. The restaurant remains closed.

"Thank You for all the support we were getting in past couple days," a message posted Monday on the business' Facebook page said.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call police at 215-686-3388 or 911.
