Thread: Plenty of Room For New Prisoners In Tent City

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told a rally that the July 29 implementation of SB 1070 will be "a magic day" for Arizona and the American people.

The controversial sheriff said he would not turn suspected illegal immigrants over to federal agents for likely deportation but would lock them up as required by the statute. He added that there exists plenty of room in the county’s prison facilities to accommodate an influx of hundreds of illegal aliens.

Sheriff Arpaio was the keynote speaker at a gathering in Phoenix held in support of SB 1070. The event attracted more than 2,000 people despite sweltering heat that topped 100 degrees.

At the Maricopa County Jail, Mr. Arpaio has reinstituted the chain gang, including a chain gang for female inmates, and serves the prisoners two simple meals a day from government surplus food supplies.

For recreation, inmates are treated to four hours of radio broadcasts from Sheriff Arpaio’s in-house station which airs patriotic music, opera, Frank Sinatra hits, and educational programming.

The prisoners are forbidden to read Playboy or any other magazine that features nudity.

In 2001, the sheriff set up an extension of the Maricopa County Jail which is known as “Tent City.â€

If more prisons were operated this way, there'd be a lot less crime. And as I posted elsewhere, some of our top leaders, bankers and other power, money hungry elites should have to spend awhile there!

Sheriff Joe should be in charge of the DHS. Nappy has been asleep at the wheel since her appointment by design!
