Poll: Trump leads Clinton by 2 nationally

Donald Trump boasts a 2-point edge over Hillary Clinton nationally, according to a new poll.

Trump (R) squeaks past Clinton (D), 35 percent to 33 percent, within the margin of error in the survey released Monday by right-leaning Red Oak Strategic.

Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson ranks third, at 8 percent, while 24 percent back another candidate or remain undecided.

Red Oak Strategic conducted its sampling online among 915 likely voters Sept. 15–16. It has a 3.5 percentage point margin of error. Online polling, however, has long faced skepticism because most rely on self-selecting groups of respondents.

Monday’s results are the first time Red Oak Strategic has found Trump leading Clinton nationally since it began tracking their race in August.

Trump trailed Clinton in the company's last survey, in early September, 32 percent to her 34 percent.

Approximately 50 days before the election, multiple polls show a tightening race between Clinton and Trump at both the national and state levels.

A CBS News Battleground Tracker poll issued Sunday, for example, found the pair tied at 42 percent across 13 battleground states.

Clinton leads Trump by less than 1 point in the latest RealClearPolitics average of national polls.

Interesting. Because Trump is ahead in this poll, they call this polling company "right-leaning".

Have you ever heard The Hill refer to the "left-leaning" polls such as the New York Times, Washington Post, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc., etc., etc. when Clinton is ahead in those?
