From Pro Illegal website, call to protest BP Agent trial

Trial Begins against Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Corbett in murder of Francisco Javier Dominguez Rivera.

Event: Week-long memorial during the Corbett trial in memory of Francisco Javier
Date: Tuesday, February 26 through the 29th, 2008
    Time: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Location: DeConcini Federal Courthouse, 405 W. Congress St, Tucson, AZ

The need for greater accountability and training within the Border Patrol was exemplified by the January 12, 2007 murder of Francisco Javier Dominguez Rivera by Tucson Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Corbett in the desert near Naco, Arizona. Join Border Action at the DeConcini Federal Courthouse in Tucson during the criminal trial against Agent Corbett which begins Tuesday, February 26th. We will have a memorial in front of the courthouse all week long to demand policy changes to prevent further death and injustice along the border. The trail has been moved to Tucson where Corbett is facing charges of second degree murder, manslaughter, and negligent homicide. The forensics examination revealed that Rivera was shot at the close range of 3-12 yet, Agent Corbett insists that he fired in self-defense because Rivera may have had a rock in his hand.

The murder, witnessed by Riveras two brothers and his sister-in-law, is unfortunately not an isolated incident; border communities witness and experience brutal force, intimidation and other rights violations all too often. Come out to the memorial and the trial to send a clear message that Border Patrol agents must be held accountable for their actions and to call for end to the violence and abuse on the border.

oh the poor little victims whine again. I don't know anything about this case, but I am willing to bet he was attacked and it was a fair shoot but oh know, it is better for our agent to be shot down then it is for him to do his job

    Concerning the case:

    previous post:

Prosecutor: Witnesses should be allowed to testify against U.S. Border Patrol agent

........Defense lawyer Sean Chapman's filing contends that the witnesses -- who include the victim's two brothers and a woman -- were influenced by the Mexican consul, who was allowed to interview them before investigators probing the incident...........
jean posted numerous articles on the case at:

If you were intelligent enough to understand anything at all about the history of California, you would know that it was originally settled by Spain, not Mexico. I'm sorry...did I use too big of words for you???

URGENT Legislative Action Alert! FOR ILLEGALS

    http://www.borderaction.org/news2.php?articleID=129

Press the "HOME" Tab on the above Pro ILLEGAL WEB site.
Under Heading " Feb 15 URGENT Legislative Action Alert!"
    Press "Read More"
    The following Alert is displayed.
A bunch of interesting info on the entire site.

    URGENT Legislative Action Alert!

While the state faces a tremendous budget, health care and education crisis, the bills targeting immigrant communities just keep on coming?

There are FIVE bills up for committee votes on Monday and Tuesday. Call or email the Committee members ASAP! Don't let the Minutemen-types be the only voices they hear! Last week we out-called and emailed the anti-immigrant groups by a ratio of 5:1 -keep it up!

For more information on these bills, visit www.azleg.gov and enter the bill #s. For Committee emails and phone #s, see below. Contact Border Action at ban@borderaction.org with any questions or responses from the legislators.

    Take Action!
Toll-free phone number to reach any state representative: 1-800-352-8404. Press #4 for the House. Then, ask the operator to connect you to the office of the person with whom you'd like to speak. Calling during office hours will most likely connect you with their assistant who will take a message. If you just want to leave a message you can call after hours and leave it on their voicemail.

House Homeland Security and Property Rights Committee, 2/18/08 1:30pm
HB2012 Drivers licenses; out of state; identification purposes VOTE NO!
This bill is a tourism and business-killer! It states that Arizona should not accept as a primary form of identification the driver's licenses issued by any state that does not require lawful presence in the country to receive a driver's license.
HB2412 Criminal trespass; day laborers VOTE NO!
This bill would expand the definition of criminal trespass in the 1st degree to include standing or remaining on any public highway, public street or any property adjacent to a public highway or street and disrupting vehicle or pedestrian traffic for the purposes of soliciting day labor employment. If someone who is seeking day labor employment does not leave after having been warned, they would be subject to 1st degree criminal trespass. Trespassing is already a crime ?we don't need to this bill! It is simply an attempt to harass people looking for work.

House Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, 2/18/08 1:30pm
HB2791 Arizona temporary worker program; provisions VOTE NO!
This bill creates an Arizona temporary worker program. In addition to attempting to meddle in the jurisdiction of the federal government, the worker would be tied to the employer, could not leave the state, does not include a path to applying for permanent residency and contains no language whatsoever ensuring the protection of workers' rights, wages, health and safety, and grievance procedures regarding employer abuses.

HCM2012 AZ temporary worker program VOTE NO!
This bill calls on the U.S. Congress to authorize the creation of the Arizona Temporary Worker Program.

    House Government Committee, 2/19/08 1:30pm
HB2677 REAL ID Act; implementation prohibited VOTE YES! (It's a good bill!)
This bill would prohibit any agency in Arizona from implementing the
2005 REAL ID Act. REAL ID would convert state issued driver's licenses
into national identification cards and create a 50-state interlinked
database that would make personal information available to multiple
agencies across the country. REAL ID is incredibly intrusive, costly,
makes it even more difficult for non-citizens (legal permanent
residents, visa-holders, refugees, etc) to attain identification in
this country and would turn the MVD into a de-facto immigration
    office.

    Take Action!
E-mail the Entire House Government Committee Regarding HB2677 NOW!
