SENATOR JUDD GREGG GIVES BUSH A WARNING ABOUT BORDERS
Date: 2006/03/06 Mon PM 04:32:40 EST
Subject: [TA] Another Victory
Dear Friends,
I thought you might find the following article interesting. It speaks of
one, Senator Judd Gregg, who usually defends Bush, criticizing the way the
White House has handled the issue of border security. Keep those phone
calls going to your Senators! This is one more evidence of their
effectiveness!
Sincerely,
Bay
*Border patrol: Gregg gives Bush a warning shot*

>
> WHEN PRESIDENT Bush spoke in Manchester last month, he referred to
> Sen. Judd Gregg nine times, calling him a "great friend." During the
> 2004 campaign, Gregg was the President's trusted debate partner,
> playing John Kerry during the President's practice sessions. Though he
> has not supported every White House policy, Gregg rarely has harsh
> words for Bush or his agenda, so it was noteworthy when he sharply
> criticized the President's failings on border security on Tuesday.
>
> As chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and of the appropriations
> subcommittee on homeland security, Gregg has more than a little clout
> on budgetary matters in Washington. On Tuesday he used some of that
> political capital to try to move the White House toward a tougher
> position on border security.
>
> "They've made a very robust commitment to our national defense, from
> the standpoint of military, but they've not made an equal commitment
> to securing the borders or upgrading the Department of Homeland
> Security as a force for interior defense," Gregg said during a meeting
> of the homeland security subcommittee.
>
> "I can't think of anything more significant than national defense,
> than protecting our borders and making sure that our homeland is
> secure," he said. "Yet time and time again, we see budgets being sent
> up here which dramatically increase the core operations of the Defense
> Department and yet the Department of Homeland Security is being
> starved for funds in crucial areas."
>
> Gregg is exactly right, unfortunately. The Bush administration has not
> given border and port security the attention and funding they deserve.
> If we are lucky, our enemies have yet to exploit that fact. But the
> nation's security cannot rely on luck. More Republican leaders in
> Congress need to echo Gregg's comments. With an election season about
> to begin amid serious concerns over border and port control, now is
> the time to pressure the administration for more action on domestic
> security. The lack of attention to these issues has gone on too long,
> and the longer we wait, the greater the risk of a devastating breach.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

This clown is another Johnny come lately. His immigration record is a D. The only reason he opposes Bush now is because he's jumping ship. Nope, too late, it won't make us forget. If your up in 06, see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.

I think Bay Buchanan is backing this guy. I'd like to hear more based on that. None of them are exactly "A" league when it comes to votes regarding immigration.

Thanks for that information DMan. But what about Tom Tancredo?

Rove will hopefully get his, in that Valerie Plame/CIA investigation. They've been awfully quiet about that lately.

Actually, I was asking dman if he thought Tancredo, up for re-election as a congressman this year, should be voted out.
But that business about Rove being assigned to "block" him is quite enlightening. Now I understand why there is no love lost between those two.
I hope they find a way to nail Rove. He seems more dangerous to me than most. Devious? is that the word I'm looking for to apply to him?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
