I have to say I was a bit surprised about the results of the poll. As a granddaughter of legal immigrants, I know about their great contributions to this country. However, what we have all failed to point out is that we legally allow 2 million immigrants into our country each year. That's a large number - larger than the great legal migration at the turn of the 20th century into Ellis Island. So, as a nation, we are very giving and accepting.
I propose that ALIPAC start a campaign of publishing the numbers of legal immigrants allowed into this country - and go back 100 years. Show the increases. I am tired of the bad press, being called zenophobic in every liberal column I read. Let's make it clear what our immigration program really is about. Then contrast that with the numbers in the last 20 years of illegals (we can only guess) that are in this country. It is, I believe, about 30 million. If you divide that by 20 years, that would be 1.5 million per year. Add that to the 2 million legal immigrants per year and we have infrastructure issues. Thus, all of the budget shortfalls. Let's let the average American see in black and white what this is doing to us!
