Why the Senate immigration deal will fail.

    http://www.hispanicbusiness.com/news/ne ... olitics%2F

Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, the Republican leader of a bipartisan coalition that produced the sweeping immigration measure, said the bill's sponsors could begrudgingly accept the numerical reduction, but he expressed fears that the entire bill "would unravel" unless the escalator provision is restored.

"I'd say the deal's broken then," Bingaman said when told of Kyl's comment that the absence of an adjuster clause could be a "deal breaker." He said he'd fight attempts to restore it.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one of the bill's sponsors, won easy passage of an amendment that would impose mandatory jail sentences for those who crossed the border illegally after being deported - at least 60 days in jail for the first offense and no less than two years for the second offense.

"Everyone needs to know that America is changing its immigration laws," Graham said. "If you break our laws, you will lose your freedom."

(This amendment will NOT have the blessing of La Raza and MALDEF. Therefore, this will be a deal breaker for them.)

AS YOU CAN SEE, THIS BILL WILL BE TAKEN DOWN BY THE RIGHT AND THE LEFT.

I don't believe this will fail in the senate. Why because the Amendment yesterday cutting guest workers in half, has made most of the democrats in full support of this bill. In also it makes the big business republicans get half of what they went. I highly doubt it.

    Edit
I did not know Graham Amendment passed. That means the illigal loving tansie won't like it to much. That make it more possible.

why do they need a guest worker program? I get that this is for new workers coming over and not part of the 12 million(seems more to me) who are illegaly here? Can't they get workers from those already here who they plan to legalize? Will Z visa holders and guest workers be eligible to receive Gov't healthcare, welfare and education? I guess we the taxpayers are going to pay since they will be paid less and pay less taxes ...Kennedy has to be on drugs or gone crazy.

Graham's amendment will not make conservatives like the bill more. They will still oppose it because of the amnesty provision.
Those on the left will oppose it now because of the mandatory prison sentences to the new batch of illegals. To the Open-Border lobby groups, amnesty is not a gift. To them amnesty has been earned and should not be payed for by harsher immigration laws.

You wait and see, the Graham amendment will be protested by the goons. Kennedy will surely follow and the group of 12 will break the deal off, with amnesty along with it.

Breaking the laws of a concept, isn't that bigotry? Last I heard, if you wanted our laws enforced that you are a bogot.
