Report: Effort To Get Eric Holder Impeached

A group of House Republicans plan an effort to oust Attorney General Eric Holder by year’s end, Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) told the Gainesville Sun.

“It’s to get him out of office — impeachment,” said Yoho, who was a large-animal veterinarian before winning election last year. “It will probably be when we get back in [Washington]. It will be before the end of the year. This will go to the speaker and the speaker will decide if it comes up or not.”

Yoho’s chief of staff, Cat Cammack, said the congressman wants Holder fired for issues that include the Fast and Furious sting operation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that left federal agents’ weapons in the hands of Mexican drug cartels. One of the guns was found at the 2010 scene of a Border Patrol agent’s killing.

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) told local supporters at a town hall in his northern Florida district Tuesday night that he and other Republicans are currently drafting a resolution seeking impeachment for Attorney General Eric Holder.

"It's to get him out of office—impeachment," Yoho said of the forthcoming resolution, according to the Ocala Star-Banner newspaper, adding, "it will probably be when we get back in (Washington). It will be before the end of the year. This will go to the speaker and the speaker will decide if it comes up or not.”

The local newspaper noted that Yoho and other House Republicans are planning to approach House Speaker John Boehner with the plan shortly.

Yoho’s chief of staff Kat Cammack alluded in a comment to the local paper that the resolution will likely have a focus on Operation Fast and Furious. “Obviously there is a lot frustration with our attorney general,” Cammack said. “You can name the botched programs. Fast and Furious has been one of the No. 1 complaints we get in our office and why no one has been held accountable.”

While several people have retired from the Department of Justice or have been reassigned, not one official from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) or Holder’s Department of Justice (DOJ) has been fired.

In Operation Fast and Furious, ATF agents allowed—at the direction of their supervisors—several “straw purchasers” to buy guns in the U.S. then traffic them into Mexico. The practice is called letting guns “walk.” It is frowned upon in the law enforcement community because the weapons could be used in crimes, and in Fast and Furious, they were.

As a result of the program, Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and about 300 Mexican citizens have been murdered with the weapons President Barack Obama’s administration allowed to “walk” into cartel hands.

After Terry’s murder, Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) launched an investigation into the matter. The DOJ has not cooperated with the investigation now years later, withholding documents from the committee, resulting in bipartisan House votes to hold Holder in both criminal and civil contempt of Congress. President Obama has asserted executive privilege over the documents, too, and the civil contempt resolution has spawned a lawsuit Issa’s committee is leading against the administration to fight for the release of the documents.

The Obama administration has also reportedly been holding up the publication of Fast and Furious whistleblower ATF Special Agent John Dodson’s book on the details of the scandal. Left-wing activists have also recently tried to use Fast and Furious to reignite Obama's thus-far failed second-term push for further gun control.

I hope Rep. Ted Yoho is right. Eric Holder needs to be impeach, fired, put on trial, and put in prison for Fast and Furious gun running and then his boss Barack Obama needs to follow him into the same cell block!

Resolution to Impeach Holder Being Drafted, Yoho Says

U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho told The Sun on Tuesday night that a group of Republicans will try to launch impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Eric Holder later this month.
Yoho, R-Gainesville, spoke to The Sun after a town hall meeting in Chiefland, during which he outlined his goals and answered questions on issues including health care, immigration and education.
Yoho alluded to Holder during the town hall. Questioned by The Sun afterward, Yoho said a group of Republicans will discuss impeachment with House Speaker John Boehner.
“It’s to get him out of office — impeachment,” Yoho said, adding “it will probably be when we get back in (Washington). It will be before the end of the year. This will go to the speaker and the speaker will decide if it comes up or not.”
Cat Cammack, Yoho’s chief of staff, said the move comes out of frustration with Holder over a range of issues.
“Obviously there is a lot frustration with our attorney general. You can name the botched programs,” Cammack said. “Fast and Furious has been one of the No. 1 complaints we get in our office and why no one has been held accountable.”
Fast and Furious was a program in which federal agents allowed gun dealers to sell weapons to illegal buyers to try to track them to Mexican drug cartels. One of the guns sold was later used to kill a border patrol agent.
During the town hall at Chiefland Middle School, Yoho reiterated his opposition to the Affordable Care Act. He was among tea party Republicans who voted against legislation that would have kept the government fully open in October, which led to a partial shutdown.

Here’s the Text of the Articles of Impeachment Against Eric Holder

The impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Eric Holder have finally begun. It’s long overdue, as Eric Holder has been one of the most aggressive violators of natural and constitutional rights of recent times.
He targeted Fox News journalists, violated the 4th Amendment, sold weapons to Mexican drug cartels, ignored the IRS Tea Party attack, ignored orders from congress, and is pushing for more regulations on basic gun and media rights. The man is an instrument of tyranny.
The proceedings against him were introduced in a House resolution earlier today by Congressman Pete Olson, who has said that he isn’t just doing this for symbolism — he wants Eric Holder gone by impeachment or resignation.

In an interview, the congressman said:

“[T]he American people deserve answers and accountability. If he won’t resign, we will force him to resign through impeachment. Plain and simple.”

In a one-pager memo provided to Breitbart News by Olson’s office, the members detail the case for the impeachment of Holder. “For nearly five years, we have witnessed Mr. Holder repeatedly deceive Congress and degrade the credibility of the Justice Department in the eyes of the American people,” the members wrote. “Last year, the House of Representatives took the unprecedented step of holding Mr. Holder in contempt of Congress, making him the first sitting cabinet official ever to hold this distinction.”
“Unfortunately, Mr. Holder has continued to act in a manner unbefitting of a cabinet official; he has failed to perform his constitutional duties and violated the law on a number of occasions,” the statement continues. “The House of Representatives should not stand by as he continues to undermine the office of Attorney General.”

The real issue, as we’ve said before, is whether the Republican establishment will allow this to go through. Remember, many Republicans like a powerful federal government that tramples on the people when it’s “convenient” for the powers-that-be.
John Boehner could easily kill this impeachment… and if he does, he should be immediately replaced by someone else more principled, like Justin Amash.
