Report: John Kelly Advised Trump to Stick to Immigration Promise by Halting All Refugee Resettlement

by JOHN BINDER28 Oct 2017Washington, D.C.
President Trump’s Chief of Staff John Kelly reportedly advised the administration to hold true to a campaign promise that would essentially suspend the mass refugee resettlement program, according to the New York Times.
The report reveals how Kelly had pushed the Trump administration to lower the number of foreign refugees entering the United States down to between zero and one refugee a year, a virtual suspension of the program altogether, as Trump previously promised to do during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Instead of taking the advice of Kelly, the White House has set the foreign refugee resettlement cap at 45,000 foreign nationals coming to the U.S. through the program a year, as Breitbart News reported.
This past summer, the Trump administration debated lowering the annual cap on refugees admitted to the United States. Should it stay at 110,000, be cut to 50,000 or fall somewhere in between? John F. Kelly offered his opinion. If it were up to him, he said, the number would be between zero and one.
Trump adviser Stephen Miller — viewed as one of the few remaining populist-economic nationalist voices in the White House — reportedly sought to get foreign refugee admissions cut down to 20,000 a year, a figure more in line with traditional immigration levels.
Previously, Trump promised his supporters he would halt all foreign refugee resettlements to the U.S., noting that without extreme vetting measures in place, the program put American lives at risk.
“When I’m elected president, we will suspend the Syrian refugee program and we will keep radical Islamic terrorists the hell out of our country,” Trump said during a campaign rally in 2016, as Breitbart News reported.
Trump additionally promised that he would suspend the refugee program for American communities who did not approve of accepting the foreign nationals, a plan that has yet to come to fruition.
“A Trump administration will not admit any refugees without the support of the local community where they are being placed,” Trump said.

Wait, come to think of it, you were the one posting most of that information.
Why would John Kelly support amnesty? Makes no sense. He's not a politician appeasing donors, he's not a businessman wanting cheap labor, he's not a state official wanting more welfare dollars sucked into his state. John Kelly was in charge of the Southern Command, he knows the role of open borders to run the drugs in, he knows illegal aliens are the drug running and operational force behind the illegal drug trade he was trying to stop, he knows these illegal aliens are smuggled into the US by the cartels, he knows the threat illegal aliens and open borders pose to the national and economic security of our country, he's a 4 star General who has spent his life trying to protect the national and economic security of our nation, why would John Kelly support amnesty for illegal aliens? Makes no sense at all.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

Huh??? What do you mean I posted most of the information? I may have commented on some of it, but I certainly didn't post most of the articles that have been posted on here. Honestly, why does it matter who posted it? Are you implying we shouldn't post any negative articles that may involve someone associated with Trump?

Excerpt:
Yesterday, news broke that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly along with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan were urging President Trump to sign the Dream Act to allow amnesty for former DACA recipients.

Homeland Security Secretary Suggests Amnesty for Dreamers, Implores Congress to Solve Problem
Stephen Dinan, Washington Times, June 11, 2017
The Trump administration last week floated an amnesty idea for potentially 1 million illegal immigrants, looking to find permanent solutions for some of the most sympathetic cases in the long-running immigration debate.
In two days of testimony to Congress, Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly said he doubts his ability to oust some 250,000 immigrants from Central American countries who have been in the U.S. for nearly two decades on a temporary humanitarian relief program.
He also signaled that he would keep protecting 780,000 Dreamers from deportation and hoped Congress would grant them permanent status.
“You’ve got to solve this problem,” Mr. Kelly told the House Homeland Security Committee when members prodded him not to deport Dreamers.
He said he would not deport Dreamers but warned that the policy could change when someone else takes over his job, making the only solution congressional action. He said there is clear bipartisan support for some form of permanent legalization and urged lawmakers to take the opportunity that the Trump administration is giving.
{snip}
If lawmakers wait, he warned, a future secretary might take a stricter line on Dreamers and fully cancel President Obama’s 2012 amnesty, known in governmentspeak as DACA.
{snip}
All told, people from some 10 countries are covered by temporary protected status. Mr. Kelly recently renewed Haiti’s designation, stemming from the 2010 earthquake.
The secretary said he would try to encourage the Haitians to go back eventually. For the Central Americans, however, “it’s kind of hard” to root them out and send them back.
He suggested instead that Congress grant them “a way toward citizenship.”

I don't buy that reporting. I saw some of that June 11 hearing and they weren't "prodding" him, they were outright badgering and threatening him. It was a budget meeting about funding for Homeland Security. And he gave them just what he promised, too, a new Secretary of DHS. It was just a few weeks after he canceled DACA Expansion and DAPA that he moved to the White House. I don't think Kelly has been our enemy. It makes no sense at all that he would be. Just my opinion.
