OBL plans to strike amnesty push on Jan. 12-14!!!

    Dear Partners and Allies,

2010 will be the year for comprehensive immigration reform.

We're going to make sure it happens, and we'll start 2010 with a roar.

The Campaign will be focused on January 12-14, when Reform Immigration FOR America will expand into a coordinated 50-state operation: a serious, focused, disciplined and growing effort to win comprehensive immigration reform, because America and America's immigrant families should not wait any longer.

I wanted to take this moment to reflect on the last year and the work ahead in 2010. Winning a fair and humane comprehensive immigration reform bill will take all of us, and it's important to acknowledge that we've been through quite a bit together already.

Back on January 20th, 2009, we watched President Obama's inauguration knowing that he stood there on the Capitol steps because of his message of change and the tremendous turn-out of Latino voters in November 2008. Today, comprehensive immigration reform remains a defining issue for Latino and immigrant voters. The power of the Latino vote remains our greatest point of leverage going into 2010 when all thoughts in Washington, DC will be on the mid-term elections next November.

In June, we launched the Campaign to Reform Immigration FOR America. Community, labor and faith partners were joined by elected officials and others in a series of more than 40 local launches that culminated in a national press conference in Washington, DC on June 3. We also held a founding summit that drew more than 800 grassroots and national leaders from across the country. That same week Senate Majority Leader Reid and House Speaker Pelosi affirmed their commitment to reform. Later that month, President Obama convened Senators and Representatives to discuss immigration reform, and he charged Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to lead his efforts on immigration reform in Congress.

Then health care reform did not pass as hoped this fall and Congress got bogged down attempting to pass it through both the House and Senate. That's when we decided to take the initiative and ensure that immigration reform did not get put on the backburner.

On September 17th, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) promised community and immigrant leaders that he would move forward on his own comprehensive immigration reform legislation. On October 13th, we organized an event of more than 8,000 grassroots leaders and a dozen Members of Congress announcing Rep. Gutierrez' principles for reform. Then on November 16th, more than 60,000 people from across the nation participated in a telephonic townhall with Rep. Gutierrez in preparation for his bill. These events were put together and run by our incredible team of organizers and organizational partners across the country. Finally, on December 15th, the CIR ASAP bill was introduced, supported by more than 90 Representatives.

As we go into 2010, we'll need to be both aggressive and confident that reform will move. We can draw strength from the many accomplishments we've collected over the last 12 months:

    • Not only did Lou Dobbs leave CNN - thanks to the tremendous work of the Basta Dobbs and Drop Dobbs campaigns - in recent public statements he's argued that some form of legalization for undocumented immigrants is necessary!
    • A growing chorus of law enforcement officials, state and local elected officials, labor leaders, and African American leaders has called for comprehensive immigration reform. Organized Labor is united in its support for reform and the Campaign's Management Team now includes faith, labor, civil rights, immigrant rights, community and business representatives.
    • As a demonstration of strength, only days after the anti-immigrant movement held about 50 tea parties back in November, this Campaign organized more than 1,000 house, church and community parties on November 16th that involved more than 60,000 grassroots leaders.
    • In only six months, the Campaign has built an activist base of more than 200,000 grassroots leaders, and an organizational endorsement list that is 700 strong.

The immigration reform movement has never been stronger or more unified. But as we've seen in immigration reform debates in the past, and in the current political situation in Congress, our unity will be tested. We also know that our opponents in Congress and in the anti-immigrant movement are gathering their strength and resources, relying on paid media and conservative radio, to do all they can to shut Congress down and obstruct reform.

The structures we've created through this Campaign will become all the more important going into 2010. Please take a moment now to endorse the Campaign, and make sure that you tell us which pillar of the campaign you can best engage in. If your organization has already endorsed the Campaign, take a moment to clarify how you intend to engage the Campaign's structure by visiting the endorsement page, filling out your information, and checking which pillar you would like to be involved in at the bottom of the page. We need your help going forward.

Thank you for all that you've done to support and build the Campaign to Reform Immigration FOR America!

    Sincerely,

    Rich Stolz

Well many illegal aliens used fraudulent documents to vote for Obama thinking that he would give them amnesty. Acorn was the big provider of most of the illegal votes for Obama. I am Hispanic and so is my family we do not support Obama.

Sometimes I wonder if he knew that illegal aliens were voting for him and that is why he keeps trying to give them amnesty and putting the economy mess in a second priority.

That may be the case Reciprocity, but what is it going to take to get them off their backsides and out into the streets??
