Communists and Illegals Handed Defeat in France

I was curious what people think of France's new laws dealing with immigration in general and illegal immigration in particular. It is quite embarrassing that they are doing something better than we are.

Chosen, I think France's new legislation is awesome. But I can't imagine the ACLU allowing the DNA testing here. They'd find some way to claim it violates human rights and the Constitution.
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

I don't think that most of the "France-bashing" that took place in the US following 9/11 was founded in fact. We indeed have found ourselves in a quagmire in Iraq, so how can we blame other countries for questioning us? Have you noticed that the invasion of Afghanistan has not incurred the same kind of open doubt? That situation was much more understandable.

The French have a culture that they are proud of--and they do, also, have a very active international military presence. They have often intervened in the middle of military conflicts in Africa over the last few decades. Maybe it's right, maybe it's wrong, but they certainly are not the total wusses that thay are often thought to be. Of course, they like to shift the military obligations onto recruits from their colonies. Oh, well.

I agree 100%. Was Napoleon a wuss? I think not. French bashing in general is just silly. This coming from a former France-basher Its neoconservative BS.

Western Civilization is in this together. You'd be amazed how much their problems mirror our own. France needs to be saved. Europe needs to be saved. The United States needs to be saved. All of Western Civilization needs to be saved. IMO we sink or swim together.
Serve Bush with his letter of resignation.

I remember a man from Africa trying to bring his children in to the USA, the DNA tests showed that 3 of the 5 kids were not his. Of course it was a sob story about how we should let all of his "children" in. The USA is doing it already...

Bush has made a mess out of everything he has touched. I have relatives overseas and they don't want to hurt our feelings but they think Bush is a joke. We have told them that the Americans are not at all like Bush nor do the majority agree with what he is doing.

Well, maybe not. He wasn't exceptionally bright, though.

My father is from France, he came here when he was 18, and became a U.S. citizen as soon as he could.
He immediately learned English, and never borrowed a dime from the goverment.
He is proud to be American, and is no longer French as far as he is concerned.
He restores U.S. military equipment from WWII, and is a knowlegable historian.
He participates in reinactments, and educates the public about our history.
He has been credited as a consultant in several documentaries, and even equipment manuals.

He believes in our freedoms, pays taxes, and despises illegal immigration and free rides.
He is everything a citizen should be.

But both countries have similar problems.
I have family in France, they are great people, not a media article.
Shortly after 9/11, my cousin in France said "Everyone in your country hates us.
We are devasted here by the events that happened in the U.S.
Please, hate the government, not the people."
I feel the same about our country.

I DEFINITELY agree with this part of their plan:
"The rest of the bill requires that prospective immigrants take a language test and an exam on fundamental French values.
It also sets a minimum income level for the relative in France to ensure the person arriving has enough financial support."
Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver...
