And he would know it absolutely, given he’s been accused of being that as an epithet so many times. It’s really striking to me that Trump is touting this guy as such an awesome dude when he seems to fit so many of the criticisms he had against such “globalists” during the election. He even ripped into Exxon Mobil in 2011, accusing them of colluding with the OPEC countries to fix oil prices, and said this price-fixing was WORSE than China!!! How does he square that with calling him such a great guy now?! I guess he doesn’t have to. His cult leader word is all some people need to hear.

There is a big difference between somebody who covers the world and its nations in the name of business and somebody else who believes that the nations of the world should subject themselves to a global order. An international business figure can uphold and value national sovereignty and still run a successful international business.

International corporations are not necessarily globalists. Typically they represent citizens themselves whose countries benefit -- as ours does -- from the influence and the trade these businesses conduct.

Our problem with US citizens who represent international corporations are when they forget the interests of the countries in which they claim citizenship. Therein lies the test of an international business figure seeking government positions. How do they value their own citizenship? Claiming dual citizenship should be disqualifying, for example

Cruz is more of a globalist than Tillerson. He is a globalist.

Rubio also fails the test claiming citizenship at all.

How many other Republicans do we have out there who have no business pointing their fingers at Tillerson?

There is no doubt in my mind that Rex Tillerson is America First all the way. I hope they announce soon so he can issue a statement about his positions and himself.

It’s being reported that Trump has chosen Rex Tillerson, the Exxon Mobil CEO, for the Secretary of State position, although it hasn’t been officially announced yet.

And this kinda odd, because Trump really ripped into Exxon Mobil in 2011, even going so far as to accuse them of colluding with the OPEC oil countries to screw us over. He even called the collusion worse than CHINA!! CHINA!!!!

Catch that? He called the OPEC-Exxon Mobil collusion an abuse worse than China!!! And yet now that he’s reportedly chosen him to be America’s top diplomat, he’s praising the “major deals” that Tillerson made leading Exxon Mobil.

It’s just incredible. But no one cares. Words are meaningless and the past is destroyed every morning that Trump begins with his first tweet.

Remember, Mitt Romney ended up being in the top couple of choices, if not the second choice behind Tillerson.

MW, keep those reports coming. I agree that Trump could be more forthcoming for this all important post. It is very, very important to get this one right. We should remember that Hilary Clinton holds the position now in this outgoing administration. She ran for president while holding the post.

I suspect Trump is navigating very treacherous waters right now. I wish I had some ideas of my own, something to root for.

I honestly feel we should evaluate every aspect of each nominee ...... the good and the bad. Some feel Trump isn't capable of making a bad choice just because he's Trump. Will I would disagree with that perception. Let's not pick and choose what we want to hear and see ...... let's hear and see it all.
