Here's this dude's position on illegal immigration.

Immigration
This Nation was built on immigration. We owe much of our success to the continued flow of new immigrants to the U.S. The issue is our broken borders, not the stream of wonderful immigrants that have sacrificed to come to the United States legally and have made us a better Nation, such as Mike and Barbara Weber who live in Post Falls. Their book should be required reading in our schools.

The Problem
With our great success, high standard of living, freedom to practice ones faith, educational system and generosity as a people, who wouldn’t want to come to the United States? The problems surrounding immigration are a direct result (again) of our senators and congressmen (Democrat as well as Republican) making a conscious decision to NOT do anything. As a result we have failed to protect our borders; failed to stop illegal traffic across our borders; failed to set up a system of legal immigration specifically for our Mexican neighbors who want to work in the U.S. and take care of their families back in Mexico. Our farmers need the Mexican immigrants. And our food production is not a resource we can afford to have moved overseas. I don’t care what NAFTA says, you lose the ability to feed your people you lose your ability to defend your self.

Because our Senate and House of Representatives have failed to act for so long (over 20 years), the problem is now monstrous. But it is still our problem, not Mexico’s. The estimates are that we could now have as many as 14,000,000 or more illegal immigrants. There is no way one could physically round up 14,000,000 people and ship them back to their home countries.

What We Must Do
First, fix the border. Stop the flow of illegal traffic. No one can question that if we do not secure our borders we cannot secure our Nation. Second, simultaneously create a non-partisan commission to develop a system whereby the workers from Mexico that our farmers depend on (and consequently we depend upon) can come in legally to work and then go home. I understand that in Southern Idaho we have Mexican workers and their families that have come to Idaho and have worked on the same farms for decades. Now, third generation Idaho farm owners are relying on the third generation of the same Mexican families. This cannot be harmed by the process established. Third, identify the criminals and ship them out immediately. Now comes the really hard part; identify those who are not here for specifically defined tasks (which would be identified in the process above). Families with children in school would be allowed to stay, but pay a fine that is deducted from their salaries. Immigrants without families should be sent back to Mexico, or to where ever they came from. This will be the most difficult task for the commission charged to deal with the immigration issues. Fourth, crack down on “amnesty cities.â€

Want to see chamber of commerce and employers of illegals do 360?Suggest that if illegals come forward and show pay stubbs ,the employer will pay for amnesty -you will have to say that the longer you have been here(everyone who has come in last 12 years must leave and go through regular channels) at least 10 years-employer will pay 10,000 for every year been here mininmum of 100,000 and employers records will be checked for other violations.These people will come out of the shadows but must have woked and prove it for 12 years.This is a joke of course but wouldnt it be nice to see the reaction of the pro-amnesty groups
