Riverhead, NY cop struck by "North Carolina" regis

A Riverhead police officer had stopped to investigate an accident early this Jan 10th morning only to be run down by a man with North Carolina plates. In the accident where this car struck the police cruiser and 3 other vehicles, the officer ended up pinned under his car, and a fork lift was quickly brought to the scene to try to extricate him before rescue vehicles arrived. The officer was subsequently airlifted to a Riverhead hospital. The hispanic driver of the vehicle which struck the officer was asked for ID and a driver's license, and produced neither. He is now locked up-but for how long? How long before the Catholic nuns and the sleazy lawyers arrive and get this guy released and back on the roads?

The accidents occured at the former Grumman facility in Calverton, NY where Long Island Wholesale Fence Company, along with many other businesses, is located. The parking lot at the fence plant is filled with clearly illegally registered vehicles with PA, VA and NC plates, and this driver may be employed there. I will be reporting the name of the employer of the obviously illegal resident as soon as I have that information.

Long Island is a magnet for illegals due to the enormous amount of corruption and greed on the part of employers here. These employers do not require anything more than a driver's license from job applicants. Let's demand that employers of illegals be held accountable for the cost inflicted on innocent citizens by the way they conduct their business.

Just a follow-Those at the scene say Mr. Gerardo Luna Vazquez, the driver of the car that smashed into the police car, was unable to produce any ID, a drivers license or any other document which would have shown that he was in the US legally. This coupled with the fact that he was displaying an NC plate on his car is evidence that he was here illegally.
