Idealism and integrity are fine qualities but mean nothing if the ignorant electorate is not given the device to perceive them amidst the enemy's fog over the media battlefield.

Since most voters are uninformed and are therefore easy targets for underhanded tactics and misleading sound bites, this is not a platonic election and more closely resembles political warfare. Those who do not temper their idealism with tact (or tactics) seldom win the battle.

And this is also why our troops must not be forced to fight like boys scouts. Within reasonable limits they must use brutal strength, stealth and deception in order to defeat their enemies.

To a lesser degree, political warfare among a largely ignorant electorate must also be conducted with some degree of calculation.

No, but we are hoping the ad persuades some legal immigrants to vote for Romney. After all. illegal immigration drives down the wages of the legal immigrant population, and smart Hispanics realize that excessive illegal immigration will destroy America. And remember that the Cubans who have escaped from Castro's island prison have a tradition of voting Republican. Too bad Kennedy did not support the Bay of Pigs invasion. The Cuban-Americans are always hoping a Republican president would support such an invasion.
