US Marshals Secretly Disguised as Mexican Marines Fight Drug War

December 4, 2014—Fast and Furious may have been just the beginning. Mexican officials are denying a report out of the Wall Street Journal that US Marshals are conducting drug raids undercover as Mexican Marines. Without an appropriate treaty the US Marshals, an enforcement arm of the Department of Justice, are ostensibly breaking Mexico’s constitutional law and likely America’s as well.
From the article at Forbes:
According to the WSJ the missions that involve direct action by U.S. agents are approved by the U.S. Marshals and the Mexican Marines. It is not clear what higher level government officials have signed off. The Wall Street Journal article explains, “The risks became clear on July 11, when Mexican Marines and a handful of U.S. Marshals personnel dressed as Mexican Marines were fired on as they walked through a remote field in Sinaloa state. One American was shot and wounded, and in the gunfight that followed, more than a half-dozen suspected cartel soldiers were killed.”
Mike Vigil, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s retired chief of international operations, explained “It wasn’t that long ago when there was no way [U.S. law enforcement agencies] could conduct the kinds of activities they are doing now and the only way they’re going to be able to keep doing them is by allowing Mexico to have plausible deniability.”
