    While I was at AutoZone

I was at AutoZone returning a part for my vehicle that was not needed and when the autozone employee asked me for my TEXAS DL, he pulled up a screen with all of the acceptable forms of ID. I noticed matricula card, mexican voter card and mexican driver's license as acceptable forms of ID. Has anybody ever noticed this?

Does Auto Zone have stores in Mexico?

If I am returning an item that I paid cash for and I have proof of purchase, when asked for an ID I tell them I needed no ID to buy so no ID to return. They sometimes tell me its store policy and I tell them my policy. I make noise and they give refund that I refuse to sign for X marks the spot. I understand Wally world has a policy if you return to many items they will refuse to refund.

Yes, but wal-mart will also take anything back, even if you don't have a receipt. They're very generous with their return policy. Sometimes dishonest people steal from other stores and then return it to wal-mart. So you can kind of see Wal-Marts point, I would hope.

As an accountant, I can assure that your signature on the refund form is to, at minimum, to protect the business from an IRS audit. Also to protect against employee fraud. Otherwise, they could pick receipts out of the garbage, put them in the drawer, take out the cash and claim those items were returned.

The ID stuff is indeed BS though, when a receipt is required for a refund.

Here is what my daughter told me when she was working at Fred Meyers (Kroger owned but local company). No receipt, no ID, no refund. I went rounds with one manager about it and know she refunded a womans $$$ who could not speak a lick of English right before me, and had no ID. I went ballistic after she asked for my ID to give me a refund. Got my money back and let them know that if they require my ID for refund, then they better do it for ALL, no matter how hard it is to communicate with them.

As for Walmart, never had a problem with them, they have always been accomodating (had few chances to return stuff there, we try not to go there too often).

We have AutoZone up here and to my knowledge over in my side of town this is where the illegals prefer to go, and are pretty much catered to, so the ID thing there does not surprise me.

Didn't a store owner get in trouble for asking a hispanic for ID when the guy was buying something? I no longer give my DL for ID, I ask what other ID they accept.
