Police to close Miami streets for march on BK

The streets of Miami will be clogged for much of the day Friday when about 1,500 people are expected to march on Burger King's headquarters.
The Coalition of Immokaleee Workers is holding the march to urge the fast food giant to require that tomato farmers provide higher wages and better working conditions for tomato pickers.
The coalition and its supporters made a last ditch plea Thursday to Burger King shareholders to do their part for farmworkers.
Three representatives from the group attended the Burger King annual meeting and urged the company to agree to pay an additional penny per pound for its tomatoes. The plea came as the group prepared for a major march and rally Friday against Burger King.
Burger King Chief Executive John Chidsey said the company remains committed to investigating and putting an end to any allegations of worker abuse within the company's supply chain.
Other than the comments from the Coalition representatives, Burger King's annual meeting was uneventful. Shareholders elected the slate of nominees to the Board of Directors.
The nine-mile march will begin at 10 a.m. at the offices of Goldman Sachs, 200 S. Biscayne Blvd. It will then head north on Biscayne Boulevard to Northeast 19th Street.
Marchers will then go west to Northeast Second Avenue, then north to Northeast 20 Street and west to Curtiss Park, 1901 NW 24th Ave.
The march will then continue on Northwest 20th Street, Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street to Maceo Park, 5115 NW Seventh St.
They will continue on Northwest Seventh Street, Northwest 57th Avenue, finishing with a rally at about 5 p.m. at Burger King headquarters, 5509 Blue Lagoon Dr.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

These groups which close streets to march should have to pay a fee. Normally drivers pay fees for streets throgh licenses, gas taxes, etc. Why shouldn't they pay a fee for the opportunity to protest.

In reality, 15 people will probably show up to protest. The media always hypes the number of people that will be there. I wish they'd turn the firehoses on these guys!

But I thought hiring illegal alien criminals is what's keeping the price DOWN??
So, now they are still illegals, but they want us to pay MORE?
Doesn't that destroy one of their biggest arguments?Proud wife of an undocumented ICE agent.

We had this same bunch roll in here in buses and clog our street. Yum Brands decided to pander. I pass on their stuff now. BK and McD are long gone from my suppliers. Here's their website.

tomato garden
I grow my tomatoes in the summer and freeze some for winter recipes. I will tell the fast food joints hold the tomato.
