Safe if you've been here 5 years or more?

There's a very interesting thought to discuss out of this. THE DREAM ACT! If these now convicted criminals can either continue or can now start the process of applying for citizenship, why couldn't every parent and child who screams about the dream act not have applied while the child went through years of the public school system. (tuition free)
If the judge had kept the charges as felonies, like they originally were, this wouldn't have been possible. (applying for citizenship)
If these people can live here illegally and continue the application process or begin the application process after a conviction, any child in the school system could have been through the process. There's no need to drive without a license. There's no need to pay out of state tuition for college. You apply for citizenship as they obviously let you do it while you're here illegally, (No standing in line) and they let you do it after you've been convicted of a misdemeanor criminal charge.Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...

Right and any illegal can attend a little college, no matter the age, no matter the grades...
They keep revamping the Dream Act trying to make it acceptable form of Amnesty but we all know what it is.

This is as ridiculous as the DA refusing to press charges against anyone bringing in a load of drugs less than 500 lbs. 'cause it was not worth the bother. I am certain it was on Lou Dobbs, but by the time his program is done, I am too horrified about the situation in this country to remember any definitive details except it was some DA in one of the border states.

Just like I told on another post concerning alcohol to 21; the laws, courts, and police are in it for the Money Making.
The laws, courts, and the police do not care how we the American Citizens pay taxes - fines or benefits for others.
It is all about money

It makes NO sense! NO matter HOW long a foreigner has resided in OUR country, if he CAME here ILLEGALLY, he REMAINS illegal!

The people in the article aren't illegals just crooks who we imported. It takes 5 years living here legally to apply for citizenship. That's what they're talking about.

I don't believe ANY illegal, regardless of how long they've been in this country should be able to remain here illegally while they apply for citizenship/ legalization, although this is exactly what is happening. I think the ONLY way they should be able to LEGALLY FILE for citizenship or legal documentation is to do it from their country of origin, otherwise all bets are off.
The Mexican consulates are working overtime to file papers for illegals here and I believe the Mexican consulates should be held in contempt of U.S. immigration laws, for aiding and abetting and hiding illegal aliens from ICE. If the consulates can't adhere to the laws of this country and encourage their citizens to remain here illegally, they should be fined and shut down..
