    Sanctuary Movement: Pursuing Another Angle

When churches began to help illegal aliens with their "plight", they placed their non-profit organizations in legal jeopardy. There are numerous problems with churches now involved in the Sanctuary Movement. One problem is the most obvious: separation of church and State. An article I found here (partially quoted below), lists several legal considerations when churches and charity organizations get involved with the Sanctuary Movement. This is an angle worth pursuing.

We can request the U.S. Government get involved in this situation. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service and individual State's Attorney Generals of any state with sanctuary churches can be notified of the legal boundaries that these non-profit "charity" organizations have crossed. If these groups are legally registered as churches or charities, they cannot change their mission and cross the line to become a political activist group. To do so would be fraudulent. They cannot retain the same non-profit status with tax-deductible contributions being allowed by the IRS.

We can demand answers and accountability by the IRS on deductible contributions to these non-profit groups. By allowing their organizations to operate as non-profit churches while they offer their establishments as safe-havens or sanctuaries would be against Federal Tax Code. The Tax-Exempt status given to churches would not be permitted for a church that became a political movement. Also, individuals who have contributed to these organizations might lose their ability to deduct their contributions of their legal non-profit status were to be changed. IRS Publication 526 identifies which organizations offer tax-deductible contributions and which do not.

Also we can alert the State's Atty. General of any state doing political posturing while claiming to be a non-profit charity. Again, this is fraudulent. Let the red-tape bog down these organizations!

Each of these organizations is essentially providing an illegal, undocumented alien with political amnesty, much like an Embassy provides when a citizen is on foreign soil. This is not what a church or charitable group was created to do. Harboring trespassers who reside on foreign soil is not what a church was created for.

Money talks. Let's hit them in the purse!

Yeah, let's see them deny cities like Farmer's Branch the ability to enforce immigration laws and at the same time allow churches to violate it!

    Sanctuary movement

I think some of these groups protecting illegals should be analyzed for "obstruction of justice" violations. Churches might have an exemption, but their hangers on and other groups get into some nasty tactics.

One argument that I have been trying to get across is that "Sanctuary" type religionists don't have a corner on morality. There is so much assistance, even now, going out to other countries, much to Latin AMerica, that is given by social conservatives, like evangelicals. It is a huge, nationwide phenomenon growing every year. So ther is no need for consewrvative to be apologetic, or to put up with labels like bigot.

Our forefathers, those of "The Greatest Generation" put their lives on the line, protecting the Americas. Both North and South! No other W. Hemisphere, with the exception of Canada and Mexico did anything. They gave their lives. Mexico fielded the Aztec Eagles for 1900 hours flying time and a small force to the Phillipnes, The rest was born by US and Canada, australia and NZ. So there.
