Seattle Police Arrest Ferguson Protester After Finding Cache of Weapons
Seattle Police Arrest Ferguson Protester After Finding Cache of Weapons
A man arrested during Monday night's Ferguson-related protest in Seattle faces several charges after police say they uncovered a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives in his backpack and car.
Jeffrey Alan Acord, 31, was charged Wednesday with possession of a concealed weapon without a permit, carrying a dangerous knife and illegal possession of fireworks, reported NBC affiliate KING5. According to police, a witness saw Acord reach under a vehicle while holding a road flare, and when they searched him, they found a loaded 9 mm handgun without a permit and a 7-inch knife. More weapons, including an assault rifle and a shotgun, as well as a box of fireworks, were found in his car after police secured a search warrant, The Seattle Times reported.
"I don't know what his plans were, but it's obviously of great concern that someone would come to an event in Seattle with those weapons readily available," Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole said Wednesday, according to the newspaper.
Four others were arrested in the city on Monday, as demonstrations erupted across the country following a grand jury's decision not to indict a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer in the fatal shooting of teenager Michael Brown. Seattle police said they are still searching for another suspect who threw fireworks off a freeway overpass during the protests. No one was hurt.

What is being covered up? No picture, no color or race of Acord told? Anyone else tired of only getting a part of the story?

Men allegedly plotted to bomb Gateway Arch, kill Ferguson officials, report says
Published November 27, 2014 FoxNews.com
NOW PLAYINGTensions remain high in Ferguson
Two St. Louis men reportedly planned to blow up the city’s iconic Gateway Arch and kill two prominent figures in the Michael Brown shooting case in Ferguson, which has sparked protests nationwide.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday that Brandon Orlando Baldwin and Olajuwon Ali Davis were indicted last week on federal weapons charges but authorities expect more charges to be filed against the duo relating to the alleged plot.
According to the newspaper, police sources said it was unclear if the men had the capacity to actually carry out their plan. The two allegedly bought what they believed was a pipe bomb in an undercover operation and had planned to buy more.
The men also allegedly had planned to kill St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch and Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson, both officials involved in the Michael Brown shooting case.
The newspaper reported that it was unclear whether the men planned to use the bombs to kill McCulloch and Jackson.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the men had wanted to buy more of the “bombs,” but had to wait until one of their girlfriends’ Electronic Benefit Transfer card had more money.
The men were arrested three days before a grand jury declined to indict Ferguson officer Darren Wilson on charges for killing 18-year-old Michael Brown in an August shooting.

Why don’t reporters publish jail photos?
Posted on November 29, 2010 | By Casey McNerthney
Q: Why don’t you publish photos of people when they’re booked into jail?
A: In most cases, those pictures aren’t immediately released, if they’re released at all.
State law prohibits the release of those photos, but there are exceptions. Law enforcement agencies may use booking photos for a person arrested or confined to help them in investigations – that’s why reporters sometimes get photos of suspects that are wanted. Some sex offenders are also exempt.
A King County Law Library reference librarian pointed to section 70.48.100 of the Revised Code of Washington, which explains the circumstances.
Read that section here.
The Department of Corrections can release photos taken of suspects as part of their supervision, but those are different from King County Jail photos.
