Watch as Sen. Ted Cruz Calls for the Resignation of Top Obama Official in Scathing Senate Floor Speech

    Apr. 28, 2014 6:15pm Jason Howerton

In a scathing speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate on Monday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called for Secretary of State John Kerry’s resignation over his alleged comments comparing Israel’s policy to the “abhorrent apartheid policies of South Africa.”
“The fact that Secretary Kerry sees nothing wrong with making a statement comparing Israel’s policy to the abhorrent apartheid policies of South Africa,” Cruz said, “and doing so on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, demonstrates a shocking lack of sensitivity to the incendiary and damaging nature of his rhetoric.”
“Mr. President, sadly, it is my belief that Secretary Kerry has proven himself unsuitable for the position he holds. And therefore, before any further harm is done to our national security interests and to our critical alliance with the nation of Israel, John Kerry should offer President Obama his resignation and the president should accept it,” he added. “Mr. President, I would suggest the absence of a quorum.”

Watch Cruz’s statements below via the Washington Free Beacon:

The Daily Beast reported on Monday that Kerry warned that Israel could become “an apartheid state” if it does not make peace with the Palestinians soon. The comments were apparently made in a closed-door meeting.

“An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman told TheBlaze Monday morning that the Israeli government did not yet have a specific response to Kerry’s remarks other than referring to a clarification tweet that State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki issued overnight,” according to TheBlaze’s Sharona Schwartz.

Psaki argued in the tweet that “Kerry does not think and has never said Israel is an apartheid state. 2 nations, 2 peoples living peacefully needs 2 state solution.”

Senator Ted Cruz was on The Kelly File tonight to call for Secretary of State John Kerry’s resignation over his controversial apartheid remarks concerning Israel.

Cruz called the comments “extraordinarily troubling” and noted that they were delivered on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, calling it “unacceptable.”

Extremely harsh words from the normally reserved Charles Krauthammer. Do you agree that Kerry should resign for his remarks about Israel on Holocaust Remembrance day?

Krauthammer: Kerry’s Remarks ‘Beyond Nonsense,’ ‘Resigning-Type Statement’

BY STEVE STRAUB ON APRIL 28, 2014 · 100 COMMENTS · IN US, VIDEO

Extremely harsh words from the normally reserved Charles Krauthammer.

    Via Breitbart.com:

On Monday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer called on Secretary of State John Kerry to resign for remarks he had made in private that were reported by The Daily Beast suggesting Israel could become “an apartheid state.”
“It’s beyond nonsense,” Krauthammer said. “It’s pernicious and extremely harmful. What the Secretary of State of the United States has succeeded in doing in what he thought was a private comment is to echo and therefore to legitimize the worst of the libelous claims against the Jewish state.
If there is one minority in the Middle East that enjoys the rule of law and protection and democracy it is Arabs in Israel. One out of every five Israelis is a Palestinian, overwhelming they are Muslim. There are Arabs in the government, in the Supreme Court, in all walks of life, in the universities.”
“There’s actually affirmative action if you are a Palestinian in the universities,” he added. “And to compare that in any way with the systematic discrimination against black Africans in South Africa is truly appalling and hurtful.
I think Cruz is right. This is beyond something requiring an apology. I think this is a resigning-type statement. This is an injury to an ally that will echo because it will be repeated, and people will saying, ‘I’m not saying this, it is the Secretary of State of the United States.’
It is untrue. It is pernicious and it’s truly something that demands at the very least an immediate apology.”

President Obama: Take Away Kerry's 'Big Stick!'By Ken Blackwell & Bob Morrison

Secretary of State John Kerry has taken only one element from all of America’s history in his peripatetic quest to forge a Mideast peace settlement: It is Theodore Roosevelt’s famous “Big Stick.” It was the Nobel Peace Prize winner, President Roosevelt, who famously quoted the West African proverb: “Walk softly but carry a big stick.”

Kerry has walked anything but softly. In fact, he has often jammed his boot in the door and hectored the sides in the century-old Arab-Israeli conflict. He seems determined to force a Mideast settlement on the contenders by using his Big Stick diplomacy -- on one side.
Since he entered the fray, Kerry has been lecturing Israel. And President Obama has warned the Israelis -- oh, how he has warned them -- that time is running out. The Jews have lived in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria for six thousand years, but Messers. Obama and Kerry are wiser and they now determine that Israel’s time is running out.
Now, John Kerry has stuck his boot, not in the door, but firmly in his mouth. This week, Secretary Kerry told a closed door session here that Israel was in danger of becoming “an apartheid state.” Thus, he equated Israel with the former regime in South Africa, the minority white-dominated Nationalist Party rulers in that pariah state.
This was a cruel and unjust comparison, to say the least. The United States labored for years to expunge the infamous UN General Assembly resolution that equated Zionism with racism. It was a project of both U.S. political parties.
Liberal Democrat Daniel Patrick Moynihan denounced that UN resolution with ferocity. He said in 1975 that a “great evil has been loosed upon the world.” He called it “shameless.” You may see this accomplished diplomat’s fiery address to the UN General Assembly here.
Yet, here was our inept Secretary of State exhuming the corpse of “Zionism is Racism” infamy and dragging it back onto the international stage. Secretary Kerry and his predecessor, Secretary Hillary Clinton, notoriously started counting Jews in Jerusalem. They have both loudly complained when Jews fleeing rising anti-Semitism in Europe have tried to resettle in the one country in the world founded as a refuge for oppressed Jews.
Both Clinton and Kerry have forgotten, if they ever knew, Winston Churchill’s wise advice. Sixty years ago, the world statesman said: “Let the Jews have Jerusalem. It is they who made it famous.” America, called a “haven for the oppressed of many lands” by none other than George Washington, should be the first to understand what all this means. Washington told the Hebrew Congregation at Newport that here “each will sit under his own vine and fig tree and there shall be none to make him afraid.”
Who today can sit under his vine and fig tree in any PLO-ruled territory and not be afraid? Questions should be put to Secretary Kerry: How many Jews are there in Syria? In Libya? In Egypt? In Saudi Arabia?
These are pertinent questions to put to our apologetic Secretary of State. We do not know how many Jews live in those lands. Most of their co-religionists were driven out of these Muslim-majority countries over a period of decades. If any Jews remain in these lands, they must keep their heads down. No safe vines or fig trees for them. If you are looking for apartheid states in the Middle East, Sec. Kerry, you might try visiting some of these Muslim majority countries to whom you and President Obama have been giving U.S. foreign aid.
The worst part of Kerry’s statement is this: PLO boss Mahmoud Abbas has openly avowed there will be no Jews in his projected Palestinian State. None. There’s your apartheid, Mr. Secretary! And, the Christians who have lived for centuries in these territories are being persecuted. Fatah is the largest group within the terrorist PLO. Fatah means “Islamic conquest” in Arabic. Fatah is trying to drive out the Christian Arabs, too! Should we be surprised at any of this?
The Obama State Department has been pressuring the Israelis to cede vital territory to their sworn enemies Fatah is the group they are empowering. And the Israelis are the ones against they are wielding the Big Stick.
President Obama should take away Mr. Kerry’s Big Stick. Mr. Kerry should not resign. He should be fired.

Summarizing our steady coverage of key globalist groups meeting in Washington, Secretary of State John Kerry told the Atlantic Council that Russia's military presence in Crimea threatens what Kerry called "the international system."

Kerry is thought to have spoken a day or two earlier to the more exclusive Trilateral Commission at a Washington hotel. Trilateral Commission co-founder Zbigniew Brzezinski reportedly praised Kerry for his handling of difficult issues, especially the Ukraine crisis.

Delivering the Atlantic Council's keynote address yesterday, Kerry called the crisis, "The most serious challenge to the international system since the end of the Cold War."
It appears that Kerry used both the Trilateral and Atlantic Council meetings to extol what he sees as the boundless virtues of the NATO alliance, and to condemn the endless sins of Vladimir Putin's Russia.

Kerry also told the Council, "This is a defining moment in our transatlantic alliance . . . . Our strength corresponds with our unity."

He also claimed that the West has tried to integrate Russia into the "transatlantic community." Yet that vague community concept has never been clearly defined. And it's not clear why Russia would even want to join it.

Kerry added that Russia had the nerve to decline an invitation to join the World Trade Organization. He was silent on how joining the WTO would benefit Russia.

Observing the 65 years since the NATO treaty was signed, Kerry also equated the concept of what he called "a sovereign and free Ukraine" with the theme of the Atlantic Council's two-day conference which ended today. That theme is: "Toward a Europe Whole and Free."

The unavoidable implication is that NATO would like to annex Ukraine. That means that NATO and the West simply want to remove any sovereign claim Russia believes it has over Ukraine and replace that claim with Western control.

Kerry also believes that "democracy, prosperity and security" have been the fruits of NATO "getting new members" since its 1949 birth. He firmly added that any Russian incursions into an existing NATO member's territory will be met by force.

Furthermore, the Secretary of State revealingly said that "an open trading mechanism" is needed—"360 degrees . . . all around Ukraine."

    Kerry also declared:
    • NATO-alliance defense budgets in member states must not go below 2% of each state's Gross Domestic Product.
    • European Union and NATO member-nations must reduce their dependence on Russia for energy and diversify their energy sources.
    • And U.S.-EU economic ties must be expanded, with the crowning achievement being the completion of the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

The TTIP is a transatlantic free-trade pact under development.

Tellingly, Kerry also said, "Our entire model of global leadership is at stake." He said that justifies "a strong call for further NATO enlargement" and "further integration."
So, from the Trilateral and Atlantic Council vantage point, their favored models of capitalism and trade now in place must expand—even though the record shows these models have hurt or impoverished more nations than they've helped.

Critics see their capitalism and trade models as degenerate—meaning that they enrich the privileged few and vastly differ from genuine free enterprise.

No one's saying Putin is an angel. But could it be that he wants to keep Russia's sovereign economic model intact and avoid the NATO-backed western model?

The Crimean region of Ukraine did vote to re-join Russia, though the transition does raise some questions. Still, it's fair to ask: would Ukraine truly be better off under the EU-NATO system?

That's a tough one to answer, but it's a question that few are bothering to ask.
