    IRS TO PENALIZE EMPLOYERS FOR W-2 MISMATCHES

    The IRS is recently announed that it will shortly begin assessing penalities against employers filling forms W-2 with discrepant names and social security numbers. Starting in 2004, the IRS will issue a notice of proposed penalty to employers filling Forms W-2 for the year 2002 and later years containing mismatched names and numbers.

    Just now saw a segment on Lou Dodds where they say SS and IRS will not cooperate with Homeland Security on this issue, so I hope this article is correct.
