Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel will speak at GOP convention

Silicon Valley investor and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel will speak on the fourth night of the Republican National Convention, on the same night Donald Trump plans to accept the party's nomination, according to plans first obtained by The New York Times.

THIEL IS SET TO SPEAK ON THE SAME DAY AS TRUMP

Thiel, a Facebook board member, has been one of the few major Silicon Valley players throwing his efforts behind the Trump campaign. In May, he appeared on a list of pledged delegates for Trump in California, although the staunch libertarian had previously donated to other Republican candidates. Later that month, Thiel became the center of controversy when it was revealed he had funded a secret legal war against Gawker, using a case filed by Hulk Hogan as a proxy.

Details on Thiel's appearance are slim, but he has notable billing. He'll speak on the last night, alongside former football player Tim Tebow, Florida Governor Rick Scott, Republican Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, and Trump. The Times writes that the appearances are subject to change, but according to the plans, Thiel's appearance is set for next Thursday, July 21st.
