He's right about arrogance. But most who are arrogant can't see it. Let alone realize why it's a bad personal trait. Arrogance defeats that type of humility in the first place, and so it ends up in a negative spiral of inflated self-affirmations that grow farther and farther out of proportion to a balanced reality.

Being obsessed with a damn flag can't bide well for those further reflections anyway. But it's true that this arrogance is a disease of a superpower, and is also self-destructive in the end.
It should be in every American's interest to defeat these types of sentiments. Self-masturbation without moderation is narcissism which is a disorder. It doesn't matter how good it feels. It's bound to back-lash sooner or later, and we've seen it.

You better find another way. Such as a better fetish.
