    Story highlights

The committee has not confirmed the Tuesday date for Sessions' testimony
A number of members are concerned Sessions may be attempting to avoid testifying in public

(CNN)Attorney General Jeff Sessions' letter on Saturday offering to testify before the Senate intelligence committee on Tuesday caught members of the panel by surprise, and senators are concerned he's trying to avoid testifying publicly, a source familiar with the situation says.

The committee has not confirmed the Tuesday date for Sessions' testimony and are still discussing whether to allow him to testify in open or closed session, or both, as former FBI Director James Comey did last week.

A number of members are concerned Sessions may be attempting to avoid testifying in public by scrapping his previously scheduled Senate and House Appropriations appearances this week, where he was expected to be grilled on issues related to the federal investigation into Russia's efforts to influence the US election, several sources say. Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, the vice chairman of the panel, is among those concerned, a source says.

Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon, also a member of the intelligence panel, sent a letter to panel Chairman Richard Burr of North Carolina and Warner asking for the hearing to be open.

A Justice Department official told CNN on Sunday that department officials expected the hearing would be closed but said the final decision was up to the Senate committee.

Jeff Sessions needs to reverse his recusal. He recused himself based on the narrative that the President was under investigation and there was some reasonable suspicion of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians. Now that we know the President was NEVER under investigation AND there is no collusion, no evidence of collusion, and no reason to suspect any collusion with anyone Jeff Sessions has any relationship with, there is just no basis at this point in time for Jeff Sessions to stay recused from anything. And as for this crap about Russia interfering in our election, until there's some evidence they can show the public, there is no evidence they can show to a jury, assuming there's some crime committed by the Russians, which so far has not been named, suggested or even mentioned, let alone a Russian name to go with it.

It's time to come out of the cowering to these vicious lies and attacks by political pundits, political opposition and the CORRUPT MEDIA and do your job to defend this country, this administration and this President elected by the people of the United States.

Tell the Senate Intelligence Committee, you are no longer recused and demand a public hearing on Tuesday. It's time to get mad, Attorney General, Jeff Sessions. It's time to put your foot down and defend our new government, President and all those wonderful Trump Supporters.

It's time to scatter and dissipate this "cloud". And it takes a united front and effort to achieve it. Trump's been doing this all on his own and busted it wide open with his Tweet about the tapes on Comey. Comey is the one who will now be under investigation as a leaker, abuse of power and spreading lies about this Administration. And, Mueller is up to his neck in this, don't doubt it for a minute. That Pansy Boy, Creepy Comey, doesn't make a move without discussing it with Mueller, so he's been collaborating with Mueller on this fiasco from Day One. Check their emails, check their phone records, check their golf game registrations. Mueller and Comey were NeverTrump Republicans, DC Swamp Creatures, the worst and darkest side of the Establishment, through and through.

Since Sessions served as a key advisor to the Trump campaign, his recusal was probably the best thing he could have done .... maybe the only thing. Let's not forget the Democrats were yelling for his resignation and even most Republicans were calling for his recusal. It was a no-win situation for Sessions and Trump, but the majority of Congress, even those in his own party, thinks AG Sessions did the right thing. Nothing has really changed that fact.

When it's a no-win, you hang together and fight these Swamp Creatures together. I think they're coming around to realizing that. Sessions just asked for a public hearing tomorrow before Senate Intelligence Committee. Can't wait!!
