Southern Lawmakers Focus on Illegal Immigrants

Southern Lawmakers Focus on Illegal Immigrants

Maira Garcia says her Latino clientele has dwindled as Georgia's legislation has advanced.

Some of the toughest bills in the nation aimed at illegal immigrants are making their way through legislatures in the South.

Proposed legislation in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina, where Republicans control the legislatures and the governors’ mansions, have moved further than similar proposals in many other states, where concerns about the legality and financial impact of aggressive immigration legislation have stopped lawmakers.

Dozens of immigration-related bills showed up early in legislative sessions across the South. Some were aimed at keeping illegal immigrants from college or from marrying American citizens. Most died quickly, but three proposals designed to give police broader powers to identify and report illegal immigrants are moving forward.

The conservative political landscape, and a relatively recent and large addition of Latinos, both new immigrants and legal residents from other states, have contributed to the batch of legislation, say supporters and opponents of the proposed laws.

This is the crux of the whole damn problem , PROFILING

why are these politicians so scared to death of this issue.

The police profile every stinkin day , they get a discription of a purp and thats who they look for

Now there are millions of "purps" in this country in the form of latino illegal aliens
The cops usually do a line up , they let people pick out the purp, is that not profiling ?

Usually those that are innocent in the line up go free , the purp gets wacked

What on earth is the problem ?

We have to get over this lib garbage of "profiling" Of course we should be profiling in the cause of justice.

Can anyone point any specific law that states law enforcement CANNOT ask questions of a SUSPECTED law breaker?

    You won't find one

I absolutely agree. Didn't you once say you got pulled over because you fit the "Profile" of a suspect they were looking for?

or four years, business at the store was good, said Maira Garcia, 25, whose father owns the business. But lately, Ms. Garcia and other business owners who cater to a Latino clientele have seen fewer customers. People are planning to leave Georgia to go back to their home countries or to other states where the perception is that life will be easier, she and her customers said.
Well if your customers are illegally in the United States, you would do best to tell them to return to their home country because if they are arrested they will face charges and serve jail time, thus having a criminal record and never being allowed in the US again.

Illegal immigrants live much better than most Americans live. Every undocumented alien I see are often shopping at Wal-Mart, eating out at restaurants, drive very expensive automobiles and have jobs as many citizens are suffering, due to unemployment. How can any person that have knowledge’s of such criminal actions, sit back and do nothing to cease the crimes? How can anyone not want laws enforced to have undocumented aliens deported? What could cause any sane persons to not understand the increasing affects illegal aliens have on the economy? Unlawfully employing jobs, and not paying taxes because most are paid under the table. Americans pays Federal and State taxes when they work, so not only do illegal employment causes States losses it also cause this Country to become unstable, due to thousands of corrupted employers pocketing tax money from undocumented aliens fraud and cheap labor. The United States has immigration laws already in effect, why the laws are not enforced, and why are persons who unlawfully entered the U.S., undocumented are allowed to reside in this Country and some people aid and abet by assisting illegal aliens to remain in the U.S. through supporting them and blocking laws that would have aliens deported? What is the reason for such unlawful actions and why don’t we Americans fight harder to gain back our Country that has almost been stolen by undocumented aliens? If we do not take actions quickly, and stand strong against illegal immigrants, someday we will be sorry when this Country is ruled and operated by illegal criminals’ folks.
When you aid and support criminals, you live a criminal life style yourself:

There comes a time when the American Public and the politicians need to say that if a certain segment of our society is supporting , aiding and encouraging illegals coming into this country, the gangs and the drugs, Then the term profiling needs to be thrown out. If the odds are that there is a seriously large segment of that community is illegal then you have to go with the odds that the bulk of those from that community are going to be criminals. Driving an old heap of a car, no license, no ID, nos speak english, and protesting for amnesty...the odds are they are illegal and a good choice to be pulled in for an immigration check. If they walk like a duck, talk like a duck, and look like a duck...then odds are they are an illegal duck.
