SPLC Blasted in New Report "Hate and Slander for Profit

SPLC Blasted in New Report "Hate and Slander for Profit"

    Contact: Dan Amat

August 17,2009 - The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is the target of a new report out entitled "Hate and Slander for Profit". The 18-page report, put out by immigration enforcement advocates, denounces the latest release by the SPLC as fear-mongering in order to make a profit. The report also states that the SPLC is attempting to destroy people with differing viewpoints through accusations of hate and racism.

"The SPLC is making baseless claims that groups are a threat to the United States and are racist if they do not have the same beliefs that they do. The fact that they seem to have sympathetic ears in the Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies should make everyone concerned." said the author of the report Dan Amato of DiggersRealm(DOT)com.

Two recent releases from Federal and local law enforcement agencies have caused people to start questioning how reliable the data is that they are being provided.

In February 2009 a report from the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) entitled "The Modern Militia Movement" was later retracted after receiving calls of outrage from across the country. It stated that people concerned with immigration enforcement, abortion, taxes, gun rights and displayed bumper stickers for certain presidential candidates - or even those who liked Tom Clancy novels - should be watched carefully as potential extremists. SPLC data was used heavily in the MIAC report.

The Department of Homeland Security also got an earful after releasing a report in April 2009 warning of extremism from immigration enforcement activists and that military personnel returning from combat in Afghanistan and Iraq may be prone to join militias. Mark Potok of the SPLC confirmed, in a Washington Times interview, that data supplied by the SPLC was used in the DHS report.

A recent Freedom of Information Act Filing by Americans for Limited Government (ALG) with the Department of Homeland Security showed that none of the data they used came from government sources.

In the SPLC's latest report it cited both the MIAC report and DHS report to show that right-wing extremism is on the rise and a threat.

"Their report references their own data in external reports as proof of their claims. There is no backing, it is their sole word, it is circular and should be discounted. All future reports from the SPLC should be suspect." Amato said.

Immigration groups have been the latest target of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is in favor of an amnesty for illegal aliens. Immigration groups have been placed on their "Hate Groups List" alongside those of the KKK and Aryan Nation groups for the past several years.

The SPLC report, which claims a rise in militia groups in America, was being disseminated nationwide by network and cable news outlets the day it was released

"The SPLC says in their report that those opposed to illegal immigration are turning extremist. In reality their report picks a few isolated individual actions of crime over the past 15 years and tries to tie them together into a national threat," Amato said. "The news picked this up and ran with it without questioning the sources of the data or its validity. The only source, of course, is themselves. The SPLC are using fear to receive donations and profit by accusing innocent people of hate and racism. It's bogus and the SPLC should be condemned for it."

Recent polls show that more than 80% of the country opposes illegal immigration.

    This is an incredible article!

I am going to be sending it out to anyone I know, and encourage them to do the same. The more who know the kind of hate mongering the SLPC does in order to financially benefit, lessens their foothold in the American public.
