State roll call
I need everyone's help. As a supporter of state's rights, I'm curious where each of you think your state stands on illegal aliens and the federal governments failure to do their job ... can y'all help me out with this? I'm trying to get the 'heartbeat of America'
thanks a bunch,
Alabama Governor Bob Riley stated "Never has deterring illegal immigration and stopping illegal immigration been more vital to our nation's security"
"Alabamians can be proud that our state was one of the first to step up and meet this challenge. Although border security is a federal responsibility, Alabama recognized it has an obligation to protect its citizens. That's why shortly after I became Governor, we reached an innovative and cooperative agreement with our federal Homeland Security Department that allows our state troopers to strengthen our nation's border security and interior enforcement. We made Alabama a national leader in this area.""Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it" George Santayana "Deo Vindice"

Governor Perry of Texas was at one point making noise about declaring a state of emergency or sending the National Guard to the border, but now that he is being mentioned in some quarters as a possible VP candidate, he has begun deferring to the federal government, saying this is a federal, not state, issue. That's an interesting comment, given that our legislature has been having fits trying to figure out how to cover the education budget with well over 50% of students in many districts being illegal aliens or the children of illegal aliens.
