Stealing From Peter to Pay Pedro

    John W. Lillpop

Fabian Nunez is a political warrior in the Reconquesta movement, a group of angry brown men and women who believe that the southwestern United States still belongs to Mexico.

Nunez and banditos of his ilk apparently have little or no regard for the Treaty of Guadeloupe Hidalgo, which was ratified by both the United States and Mexican congresses in 1848. That treaty ended any and all claims that Mexico had to land now a part of the United States.

Hispanic activists like Nunez also discount American sovereignty, borders, and immigration laws as racist barriers designed solely to keep “people of color” out of America. In his view, any Latino who wants to enter America is entitled to do so when and where he or she chooses—simply because he or she is brown.

Has there ever been a more contemptible definition of racism?

Unfortunately for California and its good people, Fabian Nunez has been installed as the Speaker of the California State Assembly. This coveted position was gifted to the Nunez by Democrats eager to snare the Hispanic vote, regardless of the impact on the Golden State.

After all, power is power, and, besides, since when do Democrats give a tinker’s dam about anything but power?

Nunez’s latest legislative proposal calls for insuring all Californians, including illegal aliens who, coincidentally, just happen to be overwhelmingly from Mexico.

    Go here: http://www.sacbee.com/111/story/96654.html

The speaker said that he is adamant about insuring all California children -- whether they are legal residents or not. "The only document I care about for children is a clean bill of health," Nunez said, exposing his blatant disregard for American taxpayers, law, and responsible governance.

As with most liberals, Nunez also chooses to ignore the wishes of the majority of Californians who are opposed to providing public services, including health care, to those here illegally.

Most people believe that no taxpayer money--local, state, or federal--should be spent on illegal aliens. Rather, many believe that such people and their children should be returned to their nation of origin, which for the overwhelming majority is Mexico.

The Mexican government, not U.S. taxpayers, should bear the responsibility for the health and well being of Mexican citizens.

Health care will be a major issue in California in 2007. Whether or not socialists like Fabian Nunez are able to fleece California taxpayers will depend in large measure on our Republican governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The governor has indicated that health care is an issue that must be addressed, but has refused to even consider a tax increase to pay for universal coverage.
But proposals like those advanced by Nunez are impossible without increasing income taxes, or by forcing California businesses to absorb crippling costs.

The bottom line: In order to prevent Democrats from robbing Peter to pay Pedro, California needs its superstar governor to just say NADA to Nunez and socialized medicine.

John Lillpop is a recovering liberal, "clean and sober" since 1992 when last he voted for a Democrat. Pray for John: He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where people like Nancy Pelosi are considered reasonable!

Let's hope Arnold doesn't cave in to this or we're in deep do-do out here. Businesses were fleeing this state but Arnold improved that situation which was one of his goals. Seems to me I heard Arnold was considering this bill. Maybe he talks to Uncle Teddy too much. Well, if this passes businesses will flee again and probably worse than before.
    Great article by John!

The people of California that care about the State should do a protest on the streets to voice anger over this. I thought that elected officials had an obligation to enforce our laws first? I better stop thinking.

The people of CA did a protest on the street in the spring. I'd say they are much worse off today due to that action? Additionally, any protest in CA stands the chance of being met by opposition with near equal numbers. Sounds like a Mexican stand off to me Americans in CA should use their existing systems of influence where they have an advantage. If America is so far gone that we can't bring about what's right anymore through our government, we need to know that. We'll go on from there.

Children are the achilles heel used to pass and abate all kinds of legislation.

I liked the piece but the step from illegal medicine to liberal socialism is another example of the cliche flawed thinking of the conservative movement.

Health care, like most worker positive initiatives, have gone to hell since Clinton left office and the bean counters of the conservative movement have run the country.

The main reason not to provide health care to illegal ailens is it would attract more lawlessness and impose costs on the american worker to subsidize business.

California is a dead state. Only past money is keeping it alive. Illegals are killing that state like a human weed. No one has the guts to pull it. You can thank the conservative businesses nation wide for bringing us these pests.

Your right about the stand off. It just seems to me that the people that are being crapped on are not voicing their anger in a more visible way.
The media is not helping either. Anything that is anti illegal alien is getting set to the side and in some cases avoided completely.

But they are. The media is not showing angry Americans taking action unless it can portray them badly, and is spinning what is actually happening in the world out here. I deal with the crap I encounter in my life. That may be from a restaurant owner, a store manager, an employer, an aquantance, my council person, lots of places. I have faith that my fellow Americans as they realize they are crapped upon won't just take it.

In 1994, California passed Proposition 187 to---deny services to illegal aliens. The day after the election, Al Gore and the leftsist socialists were reassuring all of Latin America that a federal version of 187 would not see the light of day.

The Clinton administration did nothing to stop illegal immigration, in fact encouraged it. Its the votes, stupid!

Hillary Clinton's fascist approach to health care in 1993 is why the issue is where it is today.

George W. Bush and other Republicans of his type are NOT conservatives.

Saving America will be done only by conservatives--Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and all on the left just can not wait to legalize the 20 million illegals already here...and for the next 20 million to show up/
