    Call them today!

Called the Washington offices of Cornyn and Hutchison today. What a experience that was. Cornyn's aide had no idea what I was talking about when I asked about the Dream act. La Raza.. no idea, I told him they want to give a racist organization millions of dollars and you have no clue what I am talking about? So he could not tell me how Cornyn stands on any of this but would be glad to take my comments.. And I had a few.

Hutchison's office actually did know about these subjects, but would not say how she stood on them. Again I had a few comments for her to pass on. Anyone else having this kind of response from our wonderful reps?

Everyone needs to call and maybe "enlighten" them a little? Back to the phones and faxes folks. We can't let up on them..

I realize that the individuals who answer the phones in the Washington offices of our Senators and House Representatives are not the top legislative aides to our lawmakers, but are rather on the first employment rungs of the offices; however, I do expect them to have some knowledge of the legislation being considered by Congress. The Dream Act was part of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill, so I would certainly hope they'd have some working knowledge of the legislation. Since the comprehensive immigration bill failed, it's a race to see which pieces of that bill can be passed as stand alone legislation or tucked into must-pass legislation (like all the appropriations bills). I think it's important that American citizens understand and debate the various provisions of the failed comprehensive bill, so we can decide if any of those provisions merit being passed separately. The citizens of this country spoke out loudly in stating that blanket amnesty for 12-35 million illegal aliens is not the will of the American people; however, we now must decide what to do about the parts and pieces of the legislation that will keep popping up in various larger bills and stand alone legislation. The Dream Act, The AGjobs Bill, and Tech-worker visas were all part of the failed comprehensive immigration reform bill, and each of these legislative initiatives have well-funded and well-connected supporters-it's up to all of us to decide where we stand on each separate piece and make our views known to our legislators just as we did during consideration of the comprehensive immigration reform bill.
