When I think of competition, I think about High School back in the 60's. We were put into "tracks" from 7th grade on. There were 6 tracks, and depending on your IQ and other things, you were placed with those of the same level.
These days, that would be politically incorrect to actually teach kids at different levels separately. They teach everyone together no matter what their intelligence is. That does not work!
I don't remember it being any big deal - it was accepted that kids were at different levels. And, the administration must have agreed. I'm sure at some point, someone started complaining about it, and wanted all kids in the same class so no one felt left out or something. It doesn't help any kid to do that! And, now, of course, we have kids who don't even speak English in the classes with American kids - that sure doesn't help anyone.

10-15-2007, 02:53 PM #14NO, I dont want to see a "Hispanicized America", and would rather have a blend of people from other nations. But this is what is happening right now, and we MUST STOP the immigration, both legal and illegal, from all Latin American countries. JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE "ALREADY HERE" DOES NOT MEAN THEY GET TO STAY! I say DEPORT THEM ALL, and make room for new immigrants that follow the rules to get here.

That can be very demeaning to a lower ranked student.
I also agree MSM is to blame for a lot of our country's naivety. I mentioned a incident that had occured and they had no concept what I was talking about. They said it couldn't be that bad. Now they are seeing the light and they are very afraid. I have convinced several the power of email and telephone to our electives to vote against the monstrosities.

Back to my point about about unfair competition......All young males want to be the best in today's world.....But their MTV saturated brains think that the best is being a "player," a "hustler" or a "pimp." These are actually considered qualities for our young men....not kidding. I am no spring chicken, but i suspect that I am younger than most here, and that is the culture that is taking over our younger generation. It has gotten so bad that some of the ghetto lingo has made its way to the upper rungs of society.
How true: Young guys used to want a hotrod, or a cool set of wheels. Now they want "a pimpin' ride." A sign of the times. It has been no mystery to me that many employers have been demanding immigrant workers instead of Americans. But, unluckily for the rest of us, those immigrant workers might just turn out to be violent gangmembers.
This is a classic case of bad people spoiling it for the rest of us. I think of so many things in American society that were available to ordinary people---like places of recreation---until closed due to vandalism and abuse. In this state you used to be able to park in a state or county park overnight for free--great if you are short on money. Now you have to pay for everything because people couldn't resist destroying the privilege.
Young people want everything going their way and are so unwilling to sacrifice their pleasures for future good. I hope this changes."Men of low degree are vanity, Men of high degree are a lie. " David

Oops! My typo, "vultural group" should have been "cultural group." But I guess "vultural group" works just as well.

Do you know that in the City of Santa Barbara California, an extremly expensive area to live in (unless of course you choose to live several families per home or are a Hud recipient) is a haven for gang members and that the prevailing attitude is if we build more rec centers and have mediation we will get the problem under control. Well it is not working! I watched part of the last meeting and only a handful of WHITE people showed up! NO gangbangers or their parents..of course this could be a sign that they are too afraid of being found out as illegals!
You are right about the gang mentality saturating our Nation. I was working for Nextel five years ago when a young man asked me to go to a Pimp an Ho nite at a Club on State Street Santa Barbara. Now I'm not a spring chicken and am married, he was asking as a friend with options attitude. YUCK!
He said, "many of the Oxnard youth attend the Club that nite since it was an underage nite." This lifestyle is glorified in the emerging current culture and I can see it only becoming more gross unless something is done soon.
The Schools are not teaching American history the way it should be taught... rather insinuating America is the cause of many of the Worlds problems. Besides teaching ninth graders how Spartans raped little boys! Which IMO should be information for College students wanting to specialize in History!
My youngest Son said that in his history class his teacher all but called him a racist because he said he was proud to be White, that Black pride/ Brown pride are encouraged so why is he being called a racist for being proud of being White. She immediately called for her students to go to a White Supremist website! Later an Hispanic friend of his showed him a La Raza website that made Stormtrooper look meek! Thank God he's out of the clutches of Public education!"Â*An appeaser is someone who feds a crocidile hoping to be eaten last " Winston Churchill

Bearflagrepublic, I am 40, I have three kids, a 24 year old, a 14 year old and a 10 year old, along with a 2 year old grandson.
I was raised by parents born in 1935 and 1940, who were both from extremely poor and broken homes. I was the last of six, both parents worked full-time and in the summer, the six of us also worked at least part-time in the local berry fields.
My own upbringing was even quite different from my own generations counterparts, and I do see that even THEY were a totally "ME" group. The darling girls I went to school with had all of the latest and best in clothing (the fuzzy pink and lt. blue angora sweaters, the Sbicca shoes and Gunne Sax dresses, at $40.00 a pop in 1980!!), the guys, were told they were such good athletes (big time jocks) and if you did not fit in with them, you were dirt.
It has progressively gotten worse. My oldest said in her school being "bad" was cool and knowing and learning was for the "lame". Thus, our last two have been pulled out of the public arena early in hopes they would not be tainted by this "ME" stuff and by the teachings of the socialist teachers we have in abundance here in Oregon.
Not only have they been teaching for some time that "we all have ""value"" and have something important to contribute", but they tell kids who refuse to work and learn to "do your best work", and to guestimate at problems, then these lazy kids get praised for simply "trying" and get and "A" for their efforts.
So, even since I was in school, the system has been pumping out people who think they are the worlds darlings becuase they were cute, had the right gear, or knew how to sweet talk their teachers. Working hard and being a good student had gone by the wayside long ago. Teachers no longer pay attention the those who are actually working at learning, instead they lather attention on those who fail and screw around.
The parents, well, don't even get me started on those idiots. The people who have children, and raise them to believe they should simply have all the good stuff in life because they are "good kids" need to have their reproductive system overhauled to be sure they stop reproducing and raising self-centered egotisitical children and dropping them into the lap of society to have to put up with, mainly being a drain on our hard-working collective, while they sit back and enjoy the fruits of others hard work or take up our resources in prison or in the welfare offices.
Americangirl, I do understand where you are coming from on this. Most people 40 and down seem to think they should get a great paying job without having to work their way up, many think that anything that takes effort beyond them, is too much. Yes, all too many young people just cannot be trusted to lead, and some can't even follow if they are led in the right direction.
I too have encoutered too many of these people and cannot understand them (thus having married age-wise out of my generation). Too many have been brainwashed by the PC crowd to think we here just might be racists, though they seem at times they are teetering on wanting to speak out too.
We have to hold out hope that more than not will wake up and find their voices and guts to stand up for America. I know my kids will, most of my nieces and nephews will, my friends kids too. I hope this list grows and that many of you can say the same."In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, For then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
