Switzerland not so neutral with Clinton Foundation donation

So much for Swiss neutrality.

An agency overseen by the Swiss foreign ministry made a hefty donation to the Clinton Foundation — at the same time the US and Switzerland were in the midst of a diplomatic struggle over tax evasion.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation shelled out about $500,000 to the Clinton Foundation in 2011, money earmarked for a program that sought to lower mortality for mothers and infants in Liberia, the Schweiz am Sonntag newspaper discovered on Sunday, according to The Local.

The payment was made when the US government was pressuring Swiss banks to hand over customer info, after allegations arose that Swiss banks were being used to help avoid US taxes.

Hillary Clinton was secretary of state at the time of the donation — and, after leaving the State Department, she went on to join the board of the Clinton Foundation.

A person speaking on behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation told the site there was “no hidden agenda” for the donation and that it wasn’t made “for political ends.”

“From now on we must check that money is being well invested,” socialist politician Carlo Sommaruga told Le Tribune de Genève, calling the payment a “political error.”

But socialist politician Manuel Tornare disagreed. “This donation was doubtless unwise, but I nevertheless find it hard to believe that it’s possible to ‘buy’ the US for [$500,000].”

Clinton’s ties to her family foundation — and accusations of pay-to-play — plagued her throughout her unsuccessful presidential bid.

Well, I don't blame Switzerland. What the US was doing trying to get the names of their bank depositors was wrong, wrong, wrong. It was wrong to put the bank in that position and moreover it was wrong to spy on Americans with investments overseas. When we fix our own economy, get rid of these awful income taxes, all the Americans will bring their money back to the United States and put it in our banks.

It was wrong for Hillary Clinton to use the Office of Secretary of State to solicit a $500k bribe deposited into her families so called charity foundation
in return for not making Switzerland release the names of U.S. Depositors.

Hillary Clinton set the standard letting Global leaders know State can be bought through the Clinton Foundation and
need not fear any US repercussions in exchange for a donation.

Judy, the tax issue is not the concern, the Clinton Pay to Play Bribery for personal enrichment is the point to the article.

Oh yes, I understand that, lorrie. She should be locked up. I'm just saying that the original demand by the United States was wrong on its face so I don't blame Switzerland for doing its pay game to protect itself. The proposal by Hillary should be enough to send her away for a long time coupled with the deposit the Swiss made into the Clinton Foundation. There is no question in my mind that Hillary Clinton and the Foundation broke numerous important laws over this. I just don't want Americans to be mad at Switzerland, because they didn't do anything wrong, they were protecting their banks, their investments, the privacy of their depositors, and their national interest against a CORRUPT US GOVERNMENT, as they should.
