TB and the other health risks they allow into the UK

“The government are claiming that health checks for visitors from high-risk TB areas are already in place. This is half-true.

At major ports and airports there are Port Health Units which screen a selection of travellers arriving from high TB areas (but not all of them). However, nothing is done with the results. People who test positive for TB are still allowed in to the country. All that happens is that they are asked where they are going to be staying and a letter is written to the relevant local health authorities.

It is difficult to imagine a more pointless and ineffectual exercise.

I hope you can expose this sham.

We also have health authorities who spend their entire HIV bidget on their own imported nurses with HIV. Cases have risen dramatically and the main cause is immigration.

In absolute contrast, heterosexually-acquired HIV has taken off, growing by a factor of five in the last 10 years to reach 3,800 new cases last year. And of those infections, 90 per cent are believed to have been acquired overseas, mostly in Africa.

According to Dr Kevin Fenton, a co-author of the report, 'this increase...is largely contributed to by the migration of people from areas of the world where there is a high prevalence of HIV, such as sub-Saharan Africa.'

So there you have it: nearly half (44 per cent) of British HIV patients are not from Britain at all, but from southern Africa. Even more astonishingly, a huge proportion of these cases originated in just three countries - Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi.

It costs about £15,000 per year for each AIDS sufferer in the UK.

Mary, we have TB cases a lot in the US as a direct result of illegal immigration. It hardly makes the news anymore. Just two weeks ago 100 high school students and about 8 teachers had to be tested because of a full blown case at the school located in Miami, Fl. The little bit of news it got only mentioned that the student had contracted it in his or her native country. No details for the public.
