Team America Neswletter, get on the phones!

    Dear Friend,
The Senate is going to vote on 700 miles of border fence!! The vote
    may
happen as early as this week!!

Last week the House passed The Secure Fence Act which calls for 700
    miles
of double layered fencing and improved surveillance along the southern
border. It also reverses present policy and gives border agents the
    right
to disable fleeing vehicles along the border.

Then yesterday Senator Frist picked up the bill and appears determined
    to
carry it into law. He actually filed parliamentary motions that will
force the bill onto the Senate floor, saying “It is time to secure the
    border with Mexico.”

Friends, we may not get another chance like this—they are moving this
    bill
because they are facing Americans in November. So please call your
Senator and let’s get this bill passed.

Attached is a direct link to the office numbers of your Senators. Take
    a
moment and let them know you want a fence and you want it now!!

While we need 2,000 miles of fence this is a great beginning. A year
    ago
there wasn’t the slightest hope the Senate would vote to secure the
    border
without a big fat amnesty to go along with it. We have come a long
    way,
    friends, and you did it.

Please call your Senators now. And if you have a few extra minutes
    call
Senators Frist (202) 224-3344) and Dole (202) 224-6342 and push them to
    get this bill passed.

    Warmest regards,
    Bay Buchanan

PS We need to keep vigilant because a lame duck session may be in our
future—and to address that politically messy issue of amnesty.

I'm confused here. This is HR6061? Voted on 5 days ago?

And I'm not understanding how this is any different from what was voted on a couple months back where they voted to authorize the fence but not actually fund it. Which begs the question of Are they actually going to fund it this time?

Ladydrake, the House approved the bill, now its the Senate's turn. I still would like to know how they are going to fund it.

No I know the House voted. I'm talking about the Senate. They voted back in July to authorize the building but not the funding (and gave themselves a pay raise while they were at it).

Plus, I'm looking around, and apparently they voted on August 2, 2006 to fund the fence (according to Wahington Times) http://washingtontimes.com/national/...1451-9430r.htm

At the end of the article, they say
The new amendment took money from a $86.3 billion "contingency fund" the Senate included in its proposed 2007 budget, which the lawmakers said was a better source than funding the border fence with homeland security money.
So funding it still is not a guarantee as the budget could be rejected.

And they voted again 5 days ago (which was first proposed in April, 2005)? And they may vote this week?

    See why I'm confused?

    I don't trust them.
