Ted Cruz Says He’s “Embarrassed” To Have Voted For McCain In 2008

Senator Ted Cruz has come out and said that he doesn't know a Conservative who isn't embarrassed about their vote in 2008 and I'd have to agree with that because that was when John McCain was running for president. Since then McCain has turned into a RINO extraordinaire and sided way too many times with President Obama on issues that McCain should be vehemently opposing.
Cruz did not use McCain's name specifically, but everyone knows what he meant.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) took a veiled swipe at Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ari.) in a GQ profile released Monday, saying he was “embarrassed” to have voted Republican in 2008.

“I don’t know a conservative who didn’t feel embarrassed voting in 2006 or 2008,” Cruz said. “I think the Republican Party lost its way. We didn’t stand for the principles we’re supposed to believe in.”

McCain was the Republican presidential candidate in 2008. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who endorsed Cruz in his 2012 Senate campaign, was McCain’s running mate.

McCain and Cruz have been locking horns since the combative Texas Republican first arrived in the Senate. The two have been openly critical of one another on a range of issues, including drone strikes, foreign policy, and the nomination of Defense secretary Chuck Hagel.

McCain sick of fighting Obamacare, decides to fight his GOP colleagues

A new profile on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in the October issue of GQ is not likely to do Senator John McCain (R-AZ) any favors. News outlets are reporting that Senator McCain openly stated that “he ****ing hates Cruz” and he is “offended by his style”. That really shouldn’t be a surprise considering he’s called Cruz and other limited government conservatives “Wacko Birds”.

Cruz didn’t take it lying down however saying, ”I don’t know a conservative who didn’t feel embarrassed voting in 2006 or 2008,” Cruz said. “I think the Republican Party lost its way. We didn’t stand for the principles we’re supposed to believe in.”

That may have been the reason that the GOP lost the election in 2008, nominating a non-conservative candidate whose popularity has sunk even lower in recent years. Now he’s taking to promoting intervention in Syria against the wishes of the majority of the American people. Between that and attacking the GOP’s rising star, Ted Cruz, McCain doesn’t sound like he’s planning on leaving office on a good note. But at least we heard he’s thinking of leaving office.
