    Tell Obama: We want E'Verify Regulation Enforced Now, TODAY.

    After Court Ruling, Obama Now Should Replace Illegal Workers With Unemployed Americans

    The Obama Administration has dilly-dallied all year in carrying out the Bush regulation to require federal contractors to run new hires through E-Verify. Now that a federal judge has thrown out a court challenge by greedy businesses as essentially being nonsense, Obama should drop plans for watered down regs and use this as an opportunity to put far more Americans back to work than has happened through last winter's Stimulus Bill.

    NumbersUSA is mobilizing its 900,000 members to pressure the President to immediately and fully implement the requirement that every business with federal contracts of more than $100,000 use E-Verify to keep illegal aliens out of all new job openings.

    Just so you know what is at stake:

    •Currently, a little more than 10% of new hires in the U.S. are run through E-Verify to keep illegal aliens out of open jobs.
    •If the requirement on federal contractors goes through, that would double to more than 20%! Imagine one-fifth of all jobs in the U.S. would no longer be available to illegal aliens. Of course, we want to get the percentage as close to 100% as possible, but this would be a giant leap forward in the battle against illegal immigration.
    The regulation cleared last week by federal court was one of the few things that Pres. Bush did right in handling illegal immigration. As soon as the reg was announced last year, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business groups tied it up in courts.

    When he took the presidency, Obama gave lip service to the regulation -- after all, how can the President of the United States argue to 15 million unemployed Americans that they should stay jobless while federal money is used to hired illegal foreign workers!

    Repeatedly as a U.S. Senator, as a presidential candidate and now as President, Obama has said that one of the essential parts of immigration policy is that businesses have to use procedures that keep illegal foreign workers out of jobs.

    Nonetheless, Obama and his Homeland Security chief, Janet Napolitano have diddled and dawdled half a year, saying that they needed to water down the regs in case the federal court case turned out bad. Some of our allies caught a behind-the-scenes view of the language Napolitano has been toying with, and it is riddled with loopholes that would allow a foreign army to march through.

    NumbersUSA demands that DHS Sec. Napolitano throw out all the changes she has contemplated to deal with a negative court ruling. The court ruling turned out positive.

    Mr. President and Ms. Napolitano, it is time to announce to every federal contractor that it is time to do what is right.

    The only real question holding things up was whether a President could require E-Verify for federal contractors when Congress had not done so. The business groups claimed this violated the rights of businesses.

    But Federal Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. wrote that "the decision to be a government contractor is voluntary" and "no one has a right to be a government contractor." That cleared the way for rules on federal contractors that haven't been legislated by Congress.

    As usual in immigration matters, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce brought shame on the nation's business community, which deserves much better. Chamber official Robin Conrad said:

    Our concern is the practical impact on employers ... employers will be required to reverify existing employees who work on federal contracts, which has the potential to impact hundreds of thousands of workers.

    Well, we certainly HOPE it will impact hundreds of thousands of workers.

    That's the point, Robin. We want hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who have jobs with companies with federal contracts to lose their jobs so that hundreds of thousands of unemployed Americans and legal immigrants already here can get those jobs -- and that income for their families.

    Obama's adopting the full Bush regulation would also be a huge gift to the majority of businesses that don't break immigration laws to give them cost advantages in bidding for federal contracts.

    Not only federal contractors, but E-Verify should be mandatory for any business licenses. Let's see how many taco carts are left on the street. Of course, then the Home Depots and Lowe's stores would become more irritating when you get continually swarmed in the parking lot, as day laborer ranks would swell.

    Don't only E-Verify migrate farm workers I-9s in the State Unemployment Offices. Do Them ALL!

    How clever of Janet Napolitano and the Open Borders to Think of this if E-Verify is enacted:

    Talking point:

    I have heard rumors that the Department of Homeland Security is planning to modify the E-Verify executive order in a manner that would allow government contractors to hire illegal aliens for a non-government job then transfer the illegal aliens into the taxpayer-funded subcontracted job, thereby bypassing the E-Verify mandate. Please do not allow this to happen as it would harm unemployed Americans and only help illegal aliens and big businesses.

    Good point American-ized! Do you remember where you got that report, as these days there a load of rumors out there, and they will not wash with government unless there is absolute proof of shenanigans.

    Thank YOU, for pointing that out Vortex! Too many people send in wild, off the wall commentary---and government employees just disregard it. Our statements should be backed up with facts, preferable from a US or state governmental source. Elected leaders get cranky communications ALL THE TIME...so they get used to turning a deaf ear.

    I keep sending them official government news releases from ICE or CBP. At least they can't argue with the source. And keep your comments with a respectful tone----even if you do have to show your anger. Remember---- the people we are up against have tear jerking, heart wrenching stories to tell and these win some leaders over much stronger than blasting away at them. Use your better judgement.

    There are loads of ways to snipe and snark politely. Just choose words carefully, and commiserate about the hard work the politician does while making a definitive point (shortly and sweetly).
    Dear Senator/Congressman--Thank you for your hard work on behalf of your constituents, but I need to express my worry about Bill such-and-such and encourage you to vote for/against it. Then explain reasons for concern.
