    Texas Attorney General defending illegal alien in court case

    Hello,

    I have been having a lot to deal with for the past weeks from dealing with the flu in my family to defending myself from the Texas Attorney General’s office. An illegal alien file for DNA test of my 2-year-old last year and I was advise by my attorney to give the DNA test which I did and at the same time we file at the court house for sole custody. Now I found out that my lawyer didn't serve my ex with the court documents for hearing. At the same time I was told that the Texas attorney general was filing on my own petition to defend my ex.

    How can the Texas Attorney General represent or appoint someone to represent an illegal alien in a custody court matter?

    Here are the Texas Attorney Generals duties:
    * defend the laws and the Constitution of the State of Texas
    * represent the State in litigation
    * approve public bond issues
    * enforces state consumer protection laws;
    * collects court-ordered child support; and
    * administers the Crime Victims' Compensation Fund.

    Please note this statement:

    ....the Attorney General is prohibited from offering legal advice or representing private individuals.

    There is also a division under the Attorney general that deals specifically with child support on a case by case basis:

    * Locating non-custodial parents
    * Establishing paternity
    * Establishing and enforcing child support and medical support orders
    * Collecting and distributing child support payments
    * Reviewing and adjusting child support orders

    I would suggest that you either contact Greg Abbot's office or your attorney and ask questions about your concerns. I am sure one of the two can help you understand what Abbot's office is involved with.
