I read, don';t have a link, that Zoe Lofgren, is trying to modify visas so that more green cards are available.
We really must turn to the courts for this whole issue is that is ultimately where it winds up.
Too many immigrants go court shopping to the 9th Circuit where they are counting on a favorable ruling.
If we try to re-litigate the 14th Amendment it MUST NOT BE in a state where an appeal could go to the 9th Circuit.
Also I think a case can be made environmentally that too many immigrants cause global warming.
But I really want to see a state take up a fight agains the original 19th century ruling. So we must hope that Obama does not win and appoint liberal judges like Ginzburg to the Court.

Natural Persons
The 14th Amendment definitely needs to be amended - to replace the term "persons" with "natural persons." The former is what gives immortal corporations like Hilton, McDonalds, Tyson et al equal rights as bleeding humans as far as political speech, hence our inability to compete with multinational shareholders in Japan, England, Iran, Venezuela...
Thom Hartmann wrote an excellent book "Unequal Protection" detailing the railroads' chicanery in corrupting the 14th Amendment in the 19th Century, and the aftermath suppresses American citizens political power to this day.

There is a couple House of Reps. bills which were introduced in 2007.
H.R. 1940 Intro by Nathan Deal,GA
4/19/2007.It has 103 co-sponsors and is
buried in the Immigration &
Citizenship sub committee since 5/4/2007.
Ron Paul introduced a bill last year too but I don't have the H.R. number.
I have emailed my Rep. to co-sign but hasn't happened.Guess I will try again since he is up for re-election this year."A Government big enough to give you everything you want,is strong enough to take everything you have"* Thomas Jefferson
