U.S. Hispanic Population Surpasses 45 Million
Now 15 Percent of Total
The nation’s Hispanic population increased 1.4 million to reach 45.5 million on July 1, 2007, or 15.1 percent of the estimated total U.S. population of 301.6 million.

National and state estimates by race, Hispanic origin, sex and age released today by the U.S. Census Bureau also show that the Hispanic population exceeded 500,000 in 16 states.

Hispanics remained the largest minority group, with blacks (single race or multiracial) second at 40.7 million in 2007. The black population exceeded 500,000 in 20 states. Blacks were the largest minority group in 24 states, compared with 20 states in which Hispanics were the largest minority group

Blacks were followed by Asians, who totaled 15.2 million; American Indians and Alaska Natives, who totaled 4.5 million; and Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders, with 1 million. The population of whites (single race and not of Hispanic origin) totaled 199.1 million (See Table 1 [Excel]).

With a 3.3 percent increase between July 1, 2006, and July 1, 2007, Hispanics were the fastest-growing minority group. Asians were the second fastest-growing minority group, with a 2.9 percent population increase during the period. The white population grew by 0.3 percent during the one-year period.

Overall, the nation’s minority population reached 102.5 million in 2007 — 34 percent of the total. California had a minority population of 20.9 million — 20 percent of the nation’s total, Texas had a minority population of 12.5 million — 12 percent of the U.S. total.

Next it will be who is the fattist, has the biggest stick.....tallest, strongest, most fertile, most desireable, biggest boobs and we are right back here again.

What is maddening is that if you look on the Census website they have this release in both English and Spanish.

the 45 million hispanics includes at least 10 million illegals. THE TRUTH IS THAT THESE NUMBER ARE SPURIOUS! There are at most 35 million legal hispanics in the US and that blacks with 40plus million ARE the biggest minority. Why? Because there are very few illegal blacks, that's why!

So let's stop using US Census Bureau numbers. Did you get that NCLR, MALDEF, LULAC and other socio ethnocentric groups seeking to latinize the United States!

I've stopped taking much stock in the numbers reported by the census bureau.
1) Too darn many diferrent mixed races to keep track of accurately.
2) They can only report the info that is given them by the one they ask, so logically they have to rely on the one questioned to be truthful. How easy is it for the census taker to just look at someone and tell whether they are Black-Hispanic, Asian-Hispanic or Island Pacificer-Hispanic? And even harder after a few generations down.

Did you get that NCLR, MALDEF, LULAC and other socio ethnocentric groups seeking to latinize the United States!

Yesterday I had to take my grandaughter to Delta College in Stockton to take her SAT tests. I had 5 hours wait time and noticed a flea market/farmers market in the school's parking lot. I was furious when I came upon a LULAC booth giving out Mexican flags on state property.

nobody ever wonders and asks the question: HOW did Hispanics suddenly become the largest minority?... could it be through ILLEGALS and 7 AMNESTIES and a DE FACTO DISCRIMINATION IN IMMIGRATION FAVORING LATINOS/Mexicans....

in this "new" latinized world, discrimination in favor of a minority is ok, or if it is AGAINST whitey... it is ok.

what happened to DIVERSITY in immigration? where is Ted Kennedy who engineered the DIVERSITY VISA program precisely to balance out those races/ethnicities who are somehow PRIVILEGED by connections or proximity to the US...

where is OBAMA to speak up for "his" race in the immigration sweepstakes?

I'm a strong supporter of sustaining our population at replacement levels only!

Along with the 300,000 (some estimate 400,000!) anchor babies each year!
