Norm Dicks rep. Washington State, letter

Here is Norms loser letter to me. This is months waiting for a response to my letter. Says what you need to know. He is a democrat and won't get my vote.

    Dear Mr. Hoefer:

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about immigration. I appreciate your comments on this important national issue.

Curbing illegal immigration has been a top priority of the last several Congresses. Last year, I supported legislation to implement the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, which included several new provisions designed to address illegal immigration. The measure authorizes the addition of 10,000 new federal agents on our border -- including a minimum of 2,000 on the northern border -- and at least 4,000 new law enforcement officers assigned to enforce immigration laws within the United States.

Although President Bush publicly supported legislation to implement the 9/11 Commission recommendations prior to the election--including provisions to increase the number of federal agents on the border--his actual budget proposal strongly contradicts his words. The legislation he signed last year called for the addition of 2,000 new agents in fiscal year 2006, but his budget proposes funding only 200. The bill he supported sought to add 400 new agents to protect the northern border with Canada this year--and many of those agents would work in Washington State--but the President has instead asked to reduce the number of agents working on the northern border by up to 300. Given the growing problem with drugs and immigrants and the very real threat of terrorists all crossing the northern border, I do not understand why the President seeks to cut back personnel assigned to this critical job.

Recently, the House considered new legislation, H.R. 4437, intended to address the immigration problem. Although I strongly support pursuing comprehensive immigration reform legislation, this bill was deeply flawed and did not receive my support.

The bill requires the mandatory detention of illegal immigrants but does not provide additional funds for detention space, which essentially makes the solution unworkable. It would require the Secretary of Homeland Security to refuse admittance to the United States of legal immigrants and visa holders that come from countries like India , Viet Nam , Cuba , and Jamaica - countries that either delay accepting or do not accept at all the repatriation of their nationals from the United States .

Most disturbingly, the bill contains language that makes assisting any illegal immigrant a felony, including providing a homeless or sick illegal immigrant with food, clothing, medicine or shelter. Furthermore, the bill allows the government to confiscate any and all materials and property involved. Many churches and service organizations in my Congressional District provide these essential items to anyone needing help, with the knowledge that this necessary and often life-saving assistance is being provided to a person or family that is not in the country legally. Enforcement of these provisions would require the arrest of countless religious and community leaders and the confiscation of churches, civic centers, private businesses, and homes.

"Too Bad Normy, we are tired of this crap."

Despite my opposition, this bill was approved by the House and is now under the consideration of the Senate. I am hopeful that the flawed House bill will be significantly altered in that body, and that the resulting measure will be a product that will receive broader support.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope you will continue to feel free to do so on matters of concern to you.

Norm Dicks he's our man if he can't do it........well we know he won't.
Unfortunately Glenn, he is not much different than many of the PC politicians down here in Oregon. We live in wonderful Multnomah county, the land of the left. Whats relly weird is conservatives are the majority, but somehow we have all this BS that goes on here. It's politicians like Norm Dicks that want to ride the fence all the time.

Wonder if Norm has started to get sore from riding that fence? What do you think Glenn?

Just remind old Normy that when voting time comes, Normy goes. I am doing the same down here. The governors race is coming up and I am doing all I can to see the right person voted in. Same with Representatives and such.

Thelma when I say the left I mean those that ride the fence, and want to be everyones friends, it certainly cannot reflect parties. Gordon Smith is the worst. I have no repsect for him, and then there's Wyden, well need I say more?

Then theres people like The "girls" of the Multnomah county commissioners. They are just as bad.

You know those kind of parents that let their kids do kind of whatever they want, have their way trying to be their kids best friends? Thats what people in this area have become, those parents.

They want things to be feel good, nice and lovey. Reality is that is what is taking this state down.

We Oregonians need to take control, vote out anyone that does not uphold Federal laws concerning immigration. No matter how nice of a guy or gal they might be.

We need people in office that will have some integrity and speak up for the people, not for special interests. Gordon Smith, to my understanding, has a big business and of course the rumor is he has illegals in the employ of that family business. Then with Wyden, he wants to be a nice guy, and he thinks about all those big companies that have illegals working for them and how "hard" it would be to replace them (YEAH REPLACE THEM FOR A LIVABLE WAGE WITH AN AMERICAN CITIZEN THAT WILL WANT MORE THAN $5.00 AN HOUR PLUS BENEFITS, POOR BIG COMPANIES!!). This is the kind of baloney I'm tired of, regardless of political parties.

Tell me you are a democrat that wants to toss illegals out on their butts, and will uphold the laws my father, husband and brother have fought for in war, and I will vote for you. Same goes for any Republican that will do right by us all. Should it really matter? I had always been a registered Republican, my husband always chose not to list a party, thats ok too, but I may change mine, it just depends, I just didn't want to get left out in the cold in the primaries.

Thelma maybe us at ALIPAC need to form a new party called the "Reform" party. This party would make sure the laws in this country were upheld, and that we their was accountability within our government, we would not spend unless it was necessary and the process for use of the funds was transparent. This same party would take care of its own citizens before sending billions in aid to another country that will only fall into the hands of some murderous dictator anyways.
