Trump blaming Kushner for Mueller investigation

    Vanity Fair:

Trump blaming Kushner for Mueller investigation

President Trump is reportedly blaming White House adviser Jared Kushner for his role in decisions that led to the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller, according to a new report by Vanity Fair.

In a call Tuesday to former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon, Trump put blame on Kushner for the part he took in choices to fire former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former FBI director James Comey, Vanity Fair reported.

Roger Stone, a longtime Trump ally, also recently said Kushner wasn't giving Trump good advice — a sentiment which Trump reportedly agreed with, according to someone familiar with the conversation.

Sam Nunberg, a former campaign aide to President Trump who was fired, echoed the statement.“Jared is the worst political adviser in the White House in modern history,” Nunberg said.

“I’m only saying publicly what everyone says behind the scenes at Fox News, in conservative media, and the Senate and Congress."

Trump has also reportedly complained about Mueller's investigation being allowed to continue.

Trump has repeatedly lashed out on Twitter over the appointment of a special counsel to probe Russia's election meddling and the possibility that Trump campaign staff colluded with the Kremlin.

On Monday, his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was charged with nine counts, including conspiracy against the United States and money laundering relating to his work for a pro-Russia political party in Ukraine. His longtime deputy, Richard Gates, was charged as well. Both pleaded not guilty.

Trump on Monday insisted his team did not collude with Russia, adding that alleged crimes committed by Manafort occurred "years ago."

I think Jared is young and inexperienced in politics. He's a smart young man, committed to winning the election for Trump, but I personally don't think his role was instrumental, and I really don't think Ivanka helped all that much either. Trump won the election himself with his Rallies, Message, Agenda, a life of achievement, and decades of pounding the news and conventions with the same Agenda. This was never an Agenda created to win the Presidency, it was for decades an Agenda to fix our country, one he strenuously wished someone else would pick up and run with, but no one did, because they didn't want to and had no clue how to do it.

Time for Jared and Ivanka to get out of the WH and back to their businesses and lives. We did not vote for them.

They helped him in transition in January and were great support against all the opposition...but now it is time to go.

And stop Ivanka giving advice on giving more freebies and our money away for her pet programs. We do not want it.

Jared Kushner's team turned over documents to special counsel in Russia investigation

By Evan Perez, Pamela Brown and Shimon Prokupecz, CNN
Updated 4:27 PM ET, Thu November 2, 2017

(CNN)Jared Kushner has turned over documents in recent weeks to special counsel Robert Mueller as investigators have begun asking in witness interviews about Kushner's role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey, CNN has learned.

Mueller's investigators have expressed interest in Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and a White House senior adviser, as part of its probe into Russian meddling, including potential obstruction of justice in Comey's firing, sources familiar with the matter said.

Their questions about Kushner signal that Mueller's investigators are reaching the President's inner circle and have extended beyond the 2016 campaign to actions taken at the White House by high-level officials. It is not clear how Kushner's advice to the President might relate to the overall Russia investigation or potential obstruction of justice.

Sources close to the White House say that based on their knowledge, Kushner is not a target of the investigation.

Kushner voluntarily turned over documents he had from the campaign and the transition, and these related to any contacts with Russia, according to a source familiar with the matter. The documents are similar to the ones Kushner gave to congressional investigators.

Background check chief has 'never seen' mistakes and omissions at level of Jared Kushner forms

Two separate sources told CNN that investigators have asked other witnesses about Kushner's role in firing Comey. Investigators have also asked about how a statement was issued in the name of Donald Trump Jr. regarding a Trump Tower meeting and about the circumstances surrounding the departures of other White House aides, according to one source. Kushner attended the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between top Trump campaign officials and a cadre of Russian figures, including some with links to the Kremlin.

It was arranged after Trump Jr. was told that the Russian government wanted to pass along damaging information about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as part of its pro-Trump efforts.

The meeting was also attended by Paul Manafort, who was Trump's campaign chairman.

A White House official said the Mueller team's questions about Kushner are not a surprise, and that Kushner would be among a list of people who investigators would be asking about.

    Who's who in Trump-Russia saga

A lawyer for Kushner did not comment. The White House declined to comment. Special counsel spokesman Peter Carr also declined to comment.

The question of whether -- or just how much -- Kushner influenced the President's decision to fire Comey is a matter of dispute among those in Trump's orbit. White House sources say it was the President alone who made that decision after watching Comey's congressional testimony May 3. While Kushner and those close to the White House will only say he was in favor of the decision -- or, in the words of one attorney, "did not oppose it" -- there are multiple sources who say that Kushner was a driver of the decision and expected it would be a political boon for the President.

Why Kushner would want Comey fired also remains a matter of dispute. Some people close to the White House believe it simply reflected a political neophyte wanting to get rid of a presidential enemy without understanding the ramifications, or a son-in-law trying to please his father-in-law and boss. One theory promoted by those in the anti-Kushner camp is that Kushner did not want Comey to comb through his own personal finances, and this was a way to slow down any investigation.

Papadopoulos' guilty plea visualized: From Russian contact to arrest

The disclosures follow the indictments this week of Manafort and his longtime business partner and Trump campaign deputy, Rick Gates. Both pleaded not guilty. Former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos has pleaded guilty for making a false statement to the FBI about contacts with people connected with the Russian government.

Even before Mueller took over, the FBI had been looking at Kushner's multiple roles on both the Trump campaign and the Trump transition team. The 2016 Trump Tower meeting, in addition to sessions with Russia's ambassador and a Russian banker, were left off Kushner's security clearance forms, which had to be revised multiple times.

Other points of focus that pertain to Kushner include the Trump campaign's 2016 data analytics operation, his relationship with former national security adviser Michael Flynn and Kushner's own contacts with Russians, according to sources briefed on the probe.

Jared Kushner Helps Top Democrat To Support DACA Amnesty

    By Rachel Moore -
    September 8, 2017

Nobody expected that Jared Kushner will work with Democrats in order to push forward the DACA amnesty. Kushner worked with Senator Dick Durbin, the second-ranking Democratic senator and liberal Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham to promote the amnesty in April and July. DREAMers will soon stop enjoying their benefits, and liberals are already raging about it.

“We initially had a conversation (with Kushner), at [Iowa Republican] Senator (Chuck) Grassley’s invitation, on criminal justice and I asked Mr. Kushner afterwards if we could talk about immigration, separate and apart from Senator Grassley, which we did. I went into … DACA because I was concerned about how this was going to unfold,” Durbin said.

Kushner made sure that Durbin and the then-Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly talk on the phone.

Durbin is the principal Democratic advocate who pushed for an amnesty for young illegals who entered the United States as children. The Obama-era program included 800,000 young illegals who got work-permits from former President Barack Obama.

This will change everything, and Kushner made a good choice.

Durbin didn’t consult the President during the process. According to him, the President’s decision to end the amnesty was nothing but a big disappointment. But, his joined effort with Kushner may fruit.

Everybody is waiting for the president to sign the Democrats’ amnesty legislation. Of course, this would provide improvement on “border security.”

“I’d like to see something where we have good border security, and we have a great DACA transaction where everybody is happy and now they don’t have to worry about it anymore because, obviously, as you know, before, it was not a legal deal. It was a deal that wouldn’t have held up and didn’t hold up. And even President Obama when he did it, when he signed it, he said this is obviously not something that’s — he called it short-term,” President Trump said when asked about the legislation.

This is the beginning of a good project, and things are finally heading in the right directions.

What do you think about this? Do you think Republicans will criticize Kushner for working with Democrats?

JARED AND IVANKA SUPPORT EXTENDING DACA

    SEPTEMBER 4, 2017

President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner support the idea of extending DACA, according to a report in the New York Times.

The couple, who both serve as advisers to the president, traditionally signal their opposition to several of the president’s more controversial decisions.

They wanted to seem more supportive of gay and transgender rights, keeping the United States in the Parisclimate change agreement, and distancing themselves from Trump’s remarks after the violent events in Charlottesville.

Top business leaders including major Silicon Vally executives at Facebook, Amazon, and Apple have voiced desperate appeals to the president in the hopes that he will extend the program. Kushner worked extensively with Silicon Valley leaders putting together his American Technology Council at the White House, many who could leave in protest if Trump ends DACA.

The White House remains silent about the president’s intentions as he has nothing on his public schedule for Labor Day. The DACA decision is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
